BANDUNG - PT Pindad (Persero) is ready to support the Brunei Darussalam Army in the form of supply of combat vehicles (ranpur) and weapons. It is part of the follow-up talks that have taken place in the last three years.

Previously, the main tool manufacturer of defense system (Alutsista) in this country also has provided direct explanation about weaponry and combat vehicle to Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah in Alutsista exhibition at Ahmad Yani Sports Arena, TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta.

Director of Security Defense Products Business PT Pindad (Persero) Widjajanto revealed the cooperation for the purchase of 45 armored Anoa 6 x 6 armored vehicles and SS2 weapons.

According to Widjajanto, initially Pindad plans to help the Brunei Army perform the retrofit process and build a maintenance workshop in Brunei.

"The origin of the talks is to help Brunei's army to retrofit 45 modified rabid 4 x 4 VAB units in France and build a Brunei army maintenance workshop," Widjajanto told reporters in Bandung on Friday (4/5/2018)

Widjajanto said that in the course of the discussion, the idea of purchasing a new 6x6 Anoa unit by the Brunei Army came about because economically the purchase of a new unit was considered to be more cost-effective than retrofitting the old unit.

Widjajanto said the Brunei Army Team will soon establish a team of combat vehicles and artificial weapons made by Pindad as a follow up of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

"Sultan Bolkiah's visit to Indonesia is a return visit to the presence of President Joko Widodo in the 50th anniversary of Sultan Bolkiah's throne in October 2017," he concluded. (Even)
