I love this mower. I ordered the 16 inch 5 blade on sale. Even with the normal price I think it is a great buy. The instructions/putting it together wasn't perfect. It took my husband and I a little longer than normal to figure it out. But it wasn't anything too terrible. I'm a 5'3 woman and I can zip around the yard with this thing no problem. It's great at cutting actual grass. But, tall weeds, like for example houndstongue, it doesn't do a good job at all. It just pushes them flat and cuts parts of the leaves off. Same thing with tall thistle. When we got this house those two weeds were growing quite a bit in the backyard and with this mower not able to really cut them down it's a bit disappointing but not a dealbreaker. Obviously, this is not as loud at a gas mower, but I wouldn't call it quiet either. It does make some noise that I think some would find a bit obnoxious, but again nothing huge. Someone posted a video in the reviews of the noise it makes. So if it's a concern take a look at it. I really do enjoy mowing with it though. I think it's pretty fun. It's easy to clean up and store away. Just make sure you have grass, not a yard full of weeds and it will work wonderfully.

I live in a duplex with a small yard. I was needing something that would do the job without having to store a push mower. This fits the bill. It is easy to store, and easy to use. It has been very dry so the grass has grown slowly this year. The best way to use this is to make sure there are no small twigs or limbs because this is not designed to cut through them. It will stop immediately and give you a jolt. To unclog, you tilt it on its side and pull the twig out. My neighbor had some taller grass so I mowed a couple strips to see how it works in thick grass. It did a nice job but from a distance you could see some uneven chop. If you go one way and go back crossways it will even up. The faster you walk, the better it works. It is very quiet too. You are not going to get a cut like a power mower. For instance, there are some dead leaves in my yard that are flat. This does not have the suction to pull them up and mulch them. And if the leaves are bigger, you will not have mulch. Just chopped leaves like in a salad. So this won't be for everybody but if you have the right yard, you should really enjoy the outcome.

A little background, I’m a 27 year old that has never mowed a lawn a day in my life. I found myself in a position where I had a decent size yard to start taking care of by myself and the old, smoky push mower was suddenly the most intimidating thing I’ve ever seen. I got the idea for a reel mower because I didn’t want to mess with gas and oil and the noise. It came in quickly and the post master was so tickled by it that she had to take a photo to send to her husband lol. It was super easy to put together and cut through the overgrowth in my yard like a breeze. It cuts evenly and is easy to push. It’s not hard to maneuver at all, I can do it with my skinny little arms. 10/10 I love it and I’m saving money on gas!

Confession: my husband and I are the worst lawnmower owners EVER! We have owned more new and used mowers in our 30 years married than we have socks. The reason? Limited storage, 8 kids. So when it was time for yet another mower we opted to go motorless. My hubs always wanted to give a reel mower a try, so after reading countless reviews with all the pros and cons we opted for the Great States 18". It arrived today. I know what you're thinking, I also hate when people review on day one, but I HAVE TO!! This thing is amazing! First off, it's super simple to assemble, done in under 15 minutes. Secondly, no gas, no oil, no priming, no pull cord, just start walking! Grass clippings went flying! Which leads to the the first con, grass clippings go flying... everywhere 🤔. Not a big deal if you don't let the grass get too long, but even so, i imagine all those clippings will make for quite a bit of thatch in the fall (kudos to you if you rake-up right away. ) Next con, it your grass is too long you'll have to put in some extra manpower (oops, personpower🙄) and possibly make more than one pass. Not too bad, just think of all the steps you'll accumulate of your app. Overall, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Lightweight, ease of use, effectiveness, easy to store and maintain, all A+ 👍Happy Mowing!

I've put it together wrong every imaginable way so far

Still don't have it together right but I believe I see what is wrong this time. Had to order an eclip remover and installer. That is making it much easier to take apart and put back together. But still not easy, just possible. It looks like the picture but the handle is straight up in the air and won't angle in a way that makes it operational, so when I get more time tonight or tomorrow I'll wrestle with the eclips again and try it one more way. Usually I'm much better at putting things together than this.The directions just didn't seem clear to me regarding the attaching of the handle to the mower. Update: I did finally have time to look at it and I did get it put together finally today. The e clip tool definitely helped and being able to focus on just the lawn mower helped. When correctly put together, the black rollers are directly on the ground with the black adjustment knobs on top. The metal bar with the Great States label is at the front away from the person pushing and the handle angles back toward the rollers. It was easy once I quit trying to do too many things at once. My thanks to everyone, including Great States, who helped.

I’m in love with this lawn mower. It’s just as easy, if not easier, to use than a gas powered lawn mower.

It was easy to assemble and adjust to the height setting. I like that this mower cuts as high as 2.5 inches, since we have a bit of a grub problem and the taller grass is a deterrent for them. And I like that it’s a nice width - any wider and I feel like it would risk becoming a bit cumbersome (mostly just turning corners would be harder), and any smaller would feel a little ineffective. It’s the perfect size and an excellent price.

And it’s stunning how well it works. My husband took a turn at it and I quickly shooed him away because I was so enjoying doing it myself. Now that I’ve tried it, I can honestly say that I have no idea why gas powered lawn mowers are even a thing. It just seems like a pointless waste of natural resources. This was no more difficult to push around the lawn than a gas mower would be - in fact, because it isn’t a heavy engine, it was actually MUCH easier to push around the yard. The only disappointment I have with this product is that I was looking forward to getting some exercise using the rotor mower, because everyone tells you it’s hard work, but this is not a work out at all, not even close. If you can push a baby in a stroller, you can push this thing, no problem.

I can’t wait until I can mow the grass again. It’s fun!

It just arrived today, so I put it together (20 minutes) and tried it out on our lawn. All the things which make these a great option were there: other neighbours walked by and said hello with it so quiet I didn't have to stop the mower. It is very light (27 lb) so really easy to whip around the corners. I have used the Canadian Tire Yardworx in the past, and this was definitely a superior mower. Some mechanism makes the blades turn much faster than you are pushing, so they spin up right away with little movement. The lawn did look good when I finished. And we have a lot of pine cones and numerous twigs on the grass, and it only stopped the reels once - a good surprise.
It also has the negatives of other reels. Tall weeds are just rolled over. You have to weed eat a fair swath around beds, and a few areas of the grass that it just didn't cut for some reason.
Overall, if you want a reel mower, I think this is a good choice. It seems well made, worked right out of the box, is compact and a good value.

This is my first manual push reel mower. Having a corded mower before, it was a pain having to move the cord around since my lawn has obstructions that make it difficult to mow with the cord getting in the way. Cordless mowers are expensive, and from the reviews the lower end ones have batteries that don't last very long until needing to recharge which I can see becoming an annoyance, so I opted to give a push mower a try having read good reviews.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how easy it is! I wouldn't completely replace the electric mower, but I can do less cuts with the electric by using the push reel mower once or twice a week to maintain a low cut.

PROS:
- Arrived quickly with Prime
- Took about 20 minutes to assemble, and was easy to do.
- Big wheels, easy to push
- Sharp blades
- The shavings go back onto your grass, giving it nutrients and also no fuss having to put grass shavings into a bag for garbage pickup!
- Pushing it across your lawn with the wheels is a breeze, and isn't hard to do.
- It does have a weight to it but when compared to a lawnmower it is much lighter! You can pick it up and move it around easily, it isn't bulky.
- Overall you get a MUCH better cut, vs. the blade of a spinning electric mower

CONS:
- Isn't meant for tall grass, you can only do a few millimeters with it, so it is meant to be more frequent cuts at small amounts. If you have very tall grass or leave a long gap between mows, then you'll need to bring out your electric mower to tackle the tall grass first.
- Trickier to use on non-level surfaces (such as grass up an incline hill)

Quería comprar una podadora para un jardín mediano, la cual no quería gastar en una de gasolina por lo grande, pesada y ruidosa que es, encontré esta opción manual que tiene el tamaño y peso ideal para poder terminar el corte de mi jardín en menos de 1 hr incluyendo limpieza. Corta sin problemas el césped y no se tiene que aplicar una gran fuerza para empujarla.

Es muy fácil de armar y no se requieren herramientas, la guardo en la lavandería sin ocupar mucho espacio. Haciéndola ideal para casas pequeñas a medianas en las cuales no se cuenta con grandes espacios de almacenamiento.

Recomiendo que para mantenerla siempre libre de oxidación y un afilado ideal, limpiar con brocha la tierra y césped después de usarla, y posteriormente pasar un trapo impregnado de WD-40 sobre el filo de las cuchillas, haciendo esto tendrás una podadora siempre en buen estado por mucho tiempo sin necesidad de afilar o que sus cuchillas se llenen de oxido.

Sin duda alguna la recomiendo para aquellos que les gusta mantener su césped siempre al 100 sin tener que gastar en jardineros cada 15 días.
