WORTH NOTING ON TV

* WEDNESDAY

The Faculty (ABC, 8:30-9 p.m.): In this new comedy, Meredith Baxter (of ''Family Ties'' fame) ventures where most people have never been allowed: the teachers' lounge. The goings-on in the lounge at Hamilton Middle School are amusing but not eye-opening. Although the show intentionally focuses on adults, a few more students or even concerned parents could add a comedic element.

In this premiere episode, the vice principal (Baxter) must decide whether to expel a student who painted graffiti on the school wall.

Swift Justice (UPN, 9-10 p.m.): There's a lot of ''swift'' in this new police drama: in its title, the main character's name (Mac Swift), the fast-moving action, and spurts of breakneck-pace camera work. The ''justice'' part is a bit more complicated, as Swift (James McCaffrey) fights New York City street crime his own way.

Created and produced by Dick Wolf, who is also creator-producer for ''Law & Order'' and ''New York Undercover,'' the series carries a viewer advisory for violence. This premiere episode also treats themes such as drugs and prostitution.

* THURSDAY

Educating Mom (ABC, 4-5 p.m.): For one reason or another, many teenagers are embarrassed about their parents. This ''ABC Afterschool Special'' looks at this phenomenon through the eyes of Jason (Will Friedle, ''Boy Meets World''), whose mother returns to high school - his high school - to complete the diploma she never got.

* FRIDAY

Aliens in the Family (ABC, 9-9:30 p.m.): On the heels of ''Muppets Tonight!,'' which premiered March 8, comes another series from Jim Henson Productions. This one is a live-action sitcom about an out-of-this-world Brady Bunch: a father, his two children, his newly-wed alien wife, and her three extraterrestrial children. In this first episode, entitled ''Meet the Brodys,'' Doug (John Bedford Lloyd) quickly discovers the downside of a job promotion.
