.com virii

I'm curious why the familiarity with the .com name hasn't been exploited to aid in the spread of virii or scumware? The file extension .com on a Microsoft Windows computer still represents an executable file. If some less than respectable individual constructed an email that apparently came from a well known .com, and included an executable file named with the website of that company, I think you would find that a lot of people could be convinced to run it.

"Double-click the RespectableBigCompany.com icon below to view a special announcement from their website!" Hell. It might even trick me.

I am of course in no way condoning this, but I am interested why it isn't a method that is actively exploited.
