RALEIGH—An Evergreen Christmas, which filmed in North Carolina’s Charlotte Region in 2013,  is now available on DVD, BluRay and Digital Download.

Starring country music legend Naomi Judd, Robert Loggia (Scarface, Independence Day, Big), and Charleene Closshey (A Thousand Cuts, Terminal Kill), along with Tyler Ritter (The McCarthys), Greer Grammer (Awkward.) and Booboo Stewart (The Twilight Saga, X-Men: Days of Future Past), the feature is the story of Evie Lee (Closshey) who leaves her seemingly glamorous Hollywood life to return to the small town of Balsam Falls and her family’s once-thriving Christmas tree farm to attend her father’s unexpected funeral and begins to find herself while deciding whether she should return to Hollywood and pursue her dreams of a music career or stay home and save her family’s legacy.

The production filmed primarily in Cleveland and Gaston Counties as well in parts of Lincoln and Mecklenburg counties.

According to an audit on the production done by the NC Department of Revenue, it had a direct in-state spend in excess of $1.3 million while providing more than 100 job opportunities, over half of which were well-paying crew positions for the state’s high-skilled film professionals.  Total production, including both pre-production, principal photography, and post-production lasted for just over two months in the first quarter of the year.

An Evergreen Christmas was part of another strong year for North Carolina in the film and television industry as the total amount of direct in-state spending by productions topped $254 million.  That year, more than 60 projects filed with the North Carolina Film Office and are estimated to have created in excess of 4,000 crew positions and another 20,000+ talent and background extras opportunities over the course of a record-breaking total of more than 5,700 production days.  In addition, filming on productions in that year took place in more than 30 of the state’s 100 counties.  Other productions that shot in the state that year included the first seasons of Under The Dome and Sleepy Hollow, the award-winning second season of Banshee, the third season of the critically acclaimed Homeland and the final season of Eastbound & Down as well as the feature films Tammy, Tusk, The World Made Straight, The Ultimate Life and Grass Stains as well as national commercials for Mountain Dew, ESPN, Fiat and Audi.

While filming, the production shot under the name "Balsam Falls" and was also referred to early on as "Christmas Evie."
