This is the web site for The Center for Nonviolent Communication. CNVC is firmly committed to internet privacy. The type and amount of information we receive depends on how you use the site. This page describes the information gathering and usage practices for this web site.

The Center for Nonviolent Communication reserves the right to modify the information contained on this site at anytime without notice. This site and all information and materials on it are provided to you “as is” without warranty of any kind.

Typical Web site. Visit

You can visit most portions of CNVC’s web site. without telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information. The only information our statistics service collects during a typical web site. visit is the name of your Internet Service Provider/IP address, the browser and type of machine you are using, your operating system and version, the web site. that referred you to us, the pages you request and the date and time of those requests.

This information is used for internal review only and is not shared with third parties. We generate statistics and measure site activity to improve the usefulness of the site to our visitors. For example, we track which pages are most popular among visitors as a whole. We do not collect any other information without the visitor’s knowledge and permission.

During a typical web site. visit, we do not collect or store personally identifiable information such as name, mailing address, email address, or phone number of the visitor.

eGroups

The egroups listed on this web site. are run by people interested in sharing NVC. The opinions expressed on them do not necessarily reflect the opinions/policies of CNVC. While CNVC does not share or sell egroup contact information, the members of each email group may have access to email addresses of other members. CNVC is not responsible for how that information is used.

CNVC mailing list

To be placed on the CNVC mailing list, CNVC will need your name and complete postal address. You will then receive the annual CNVC printed newsletter (and possibly other mailings about NVC activities) which, other than this web site. and the “FriendsofNVC” email group, is how the Center announces its activities. CNVC has a policy of never sharing, selling, or giving its mailing lists to other organizations or people. And, of course, you can ask to be removed at any time by contacting CNVC.

The CNVC mailing list is made available to certified trainers and organizers of Marshall B. Rosenberg’s trainings at their request and only for their geographic region. You may opt out by removing yourself from the CNVC mailing list.

Global NVC Supporters and Others

Some people are asked to share their contact information with the Center. These include people who want to be local NVC supporters, local nvc groups or local nvc web sites, as well as certified trainers, organizers, board members, educational materials committee members, finance committee members, fund raising committee members, schedulers, CNVC staff, international project coordinator, executive director of the center, director of educational services, webmasters, project coordinators, and inside:CNVC administrators.

Information collected includes name, postal address, email address, telephone numbers, and web site address. This information is available only to CNVC staff, is used as necessary to run the CNVC organization, and is never shared, sold, or given to another organization or person.

There are two levels of access for a person’s contact information. The CNVC staff has access to all contact in the Private section of your Information Profile. That’s the first level.

The second level is for the general public. CNVC does not make personal contact information available to the general public for an individual without the individual’s consent. If you want the public to have your contact information enter it in the Public section of your Profile Information. Contact information for people in certain positions (certified trainers, local nvc supporters, board members, and local nvc groups and web sites) is shown to the general public ONLY if the person has indicated that she or he is willing to be listed and has specified the information she or he wants shared with the public.

Opting Out

If you join CNVC’s mailing list you will receive periodic updates from the Center for Nonviolent Communication by postal mail.
