Lincoln, Neb., Oct. 3—Four years ago South Dakota's football eleven gave Nebraska a shut-out, the score being 14 to 0. Today the Cornhuskers returned compliment in greater measure, beating the team from Vermillion 23 to 0.

At no time was the home goal in the slightest danger and in the last half Captain Bender tried out several men whose merits were unknown. Even with this handicap the Nebraska lads did better as the game progressed and near the end broke the opposing lines or made end runs at will.

Nebraska made many off-side plays and was penalized frequently. This must be attributed to the impulsiveness of the green players. Benedict's punting log was tuned up to a high pitch today, and he drove the ball far and high so that his men were on the spot ready to tackle when the punts were caught.

Near the close of the game Bender returned a punt from the center clear to the goal line, making a touchdown. His work was faultless throughout.
