We are facing unprecedented change in the government and public sector landscape. Brexit dominates the agenda with trade and customs, immigration and employment centre stage. The new Industrial Strategy will look at ways to deliver inclusive and place based growth. Added to this, technological changes continue at pace with the moves towards digital and ever greater use of data analytics bringing huge benefits but also greater threats, for example to our cyber security. In the last year, we worked with over 600 government and public sector clients. Our ambition is to provide innovative, workable solutions to deliver transformational change and achieve value for money and results.
Trading goods is fundamental to the UK’s relationship with the EU at present and will remain so in the future; so it is no surprise that two of the recent ‘position papers’ published by the UK government have focused on how we might manage UK/EU trade between ‘Brexit Day’ in March 2019 and the negotiation of a final agreement, which may continue for a number of years.
How can HR play a more central role in shaping the direction of higher education? This was the topic of our workshop at the 2017 UHR conference. And while there was clearly appetite from delegates to shift HR to being more strategic, there was also a sense of the scale of the challenge ahead.
