    Journalist and political activist in the Ottoman Empire. Briefly involved in the establishment of the Young Ottoman movement but broke with more liberal reformers. Emphasized the Islamic dimensions of reform and was a pioneer in articulating Turkish nationalism and pan-Turkish ideology. Killed while participating in a revolt.
