Several changes will take effect September 2, 2018 (unless otherwise noted) and include new express/enhanced/renumbered routes, service increases, service reliability improvements, construction-related changes, seasonal service adjustments, service changes and Labour Day holiday service.

New Express Routes

37 Islington / 937 Islington Express (effective September 4, 2018)
In the peak periods, new express bus service will operate on Islington Avenue from Islington Station to Steeles. The express service will be provided on a new route, 937 Islington Express. The new express service will operate only in the peak periods, and will be scheduled to operate every 10 to 11 minutes. Local service on the corridor will also be slightly revised. In the morning peak period, local service on the 37B to Steeles Avenue West will change from every seven to eight minutes to every nine to ten minutes. Late evening service will be improved from every 26 minutes to every 24 minutes.

102 Markham Rd / 902 Markham Rd Express
In the peak periods, a new 902 Markham Rd Express bus service will operate from Warden Station to Sheppard via Centennial College. Scheduled service will operate every 10 minutes in the peak periods and 15 minutes in the midday period. Local scheduled service on the corridor will also be revised from every four to six minutes to every five to seven minutes. Combined scheduled service on the corridor will be improved to every four minutes.

134 Progress / 913 Progress Express (effective September 4, 2018)
A new 913 Progress Express (Scarborough Centre Station – Centennial College Express) route will replace northbound 134C Progress trips in the morning peak period and southbound 134C Progress trips in the afternoon peak period. This service will improve connections between Scarborough Centre Station and Centennial College Progress Campus. 134C Progress trips will continue to operate in the opposite direction of the new express route.

Enhanced and Renumbered Routes

84 Sheppard West / 984 Sheppard West Express (effective September 4, 2018)
Express bus service along Sheppard Avenue West will be provided by the new 984 Sheppard West Express route and the 84E will be replaced.

In the peak periods, express bus service will be extended from Sheppard West Station and will operate from Sheppard-Yonge Station to Weston Road (via Sheppard West Station). Scheduled service will operate every seven to ten minutes. In all other periods, express service will continue to operate only between Sheppard West Station and Sheppard-Yonge Station.

In the peak periods, the local service will be changed slightly. In the morning peak period, scheduled service on Oakdale Road and Arrow Road will change from every 17 minutes to every 19 minutes. In the afternoon peak period, it will change from every 23 minutes to every 26 minutes.

85 Sheppard East / 190 Scarborough Centre Rocket / 985 Sheppard East Express (effective September 4, 2018)
The name of this route will change to 985 Sheppard East Express and will replace the former route name 190 Scarborough Centre Rocket.  New stops at Sheppard Avenue East and Consumers Road and Brian Drive will be included into 985 Sheppard East Express to provide better stop spacing for customers between Don Mills Station and Victoria Park Avenue.

In the peak periods, a new branch will operate on the 985 Sheppard East Express route between Don Mills Station and Meadowvale Road as 985B. Scheduled service will operate every eight to nine minutes.

Additionally, in the peak periods, the 85 Sheppard East and 985A Sheppard East Express (Don Mills Station-Scarborough Centre Station) will be adjusted slightly. In the morning peak period, local scheduled service will change from every six to seven minutes to every eight minutes, and express service will change from every six minutes to every nine minutes. In the afternoon peak period, local scheduled service will change from every six to seven minutes to every eight to nine minutes, and express service will change from every four to five minutes to every seven to eight minutes. The resulting combined frequency of all services will be unchanged.  

Renumbered Routes

  • 54E Lawrence East will become 954 Lawrence East Express
  • 60E Steeles West will become 960 Steeles West Express
  • 185 Don Mills Rocket will become 925 Don Mills Express
  • 191 Highway 27 Rocket will become 927 Highway 27 Express
  • 195 Jane Rocket will become 935 Jane Express
  • 198 U of T Scarborough Rocket will become 905 Eglinton East Express
  • 199 Finch Rocket will become 939 Finch Express

Service Increases (effective September 4, 2018 unless otherwise noted)

23 Dawes
Service will also be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday. Scheduled service will be improved from every eight to nine minutes to every seven minutes.

26 Dupont
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the morning peak period from Monday to Friday. Scheduled service will be improved from every 16 minutes to every 13 minutes.

29 Dufferin (effective September 2, 2018)
Service on Sunday and holidays will change to articulated bus operation in order to improve service for customers and to reduce crowding. As a result of the change with articulated buses, scheduled service levels will change slightly in the daytime and early evening.

36 Finch West
Service east of Finch West Station will be increased to reduce overcrowding in the midday and peak periods from Monday to Friday. Scheduled service will be improved from every seven minutes to every five minutes.

43 Kennedy
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday. Scheduled service will be improved from every 10 minutes to every 9 to 10 minutes.

54 Lawrence East
Service will be increased on this route to reduce crowding in the midday and early evening from Monday to Friday. In the midday, scheduled service will be improved from every six to seven minutes to every six minutes.

63 Ossington
Service will be increased on this route in the peak periods and midday, from Monday to Friday, to reduce overcrowding. In the morning peak period, scheduled service will be improved to every three to four minutes. In the midday, scheduled service will be improved from every five minutes to every four to five minutes. In the afternoon peak period, scheduled service will be improved from every four to five minutes to every four minutes.

72 Pape
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the morning peak period from Monday to Friday. The combined scheduled service between Commissioners Street and Cherry Street and Pape Station will improve from every nine minutes to every seven to eight minutes.

79 Scarlett Rd
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the morning peak period from Monday to Friday. Combined scheduled service will be improved from every five minutes to every four to five minutes.

88 South Leaside
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the peak periods from Monday to Friday. In the morning peak period, scheduled service will be improved from every six minutes to every five to six minutes. In the afternoon peak period, scheduled service will be improved from every seven to eight minutes to every six minutes.

100 Flemingdon Park
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the morning peak period and midday from Monday to Friday. In the morning peak period, scheduled service will improve from every three minutes to four minutes to every three minutes. In the midday, scheduled service will improve from every six minutes to seven minutes to every five to six minutes.

113 Danforth
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday. Service will be improved from every 14 minutes to every 11 minutes.

134 Progress
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the peak periods and midday from Monday to Friday. In the peak periods, service will improve from every 24 minutes to every 18 minutes. In the midday period, service will improve from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes.

165 Weston Rd North
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the morning peak period from Monday to Friday. Scheduled service will be improved from every six minutes to seven minutes to every five to six minutes.

195 Jane Rocket / 935 Jane Express
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding along the Jane Street corridor in the morning peak period from Monday to Friday. Service will be improved from every eight to nine minutes to every seven to eight minutes.

198 U of T Scarborough Rocket / 905 Eglinton East Express
Service will be increased on this route to reduce overcrowding in the midday and afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday. In the midday period, service will be improved from every ten minutes to every eight minutes. In the afternoon peak period, service will be improved from every ten minutes to every nine minutes.

510/310 Spadina (effective September 2, 2018)
Service will also be increased in the morning peak period and in the afternoon on Saturday to reduce crowding. All service will operate between Spadina Station and Union Station during the early evening on Saturdays.

Service Reliability Improvements

The Service Reliability Program, which continuously monitors and improves schedules to better match observed operating conditions, will result in new schedules for the following lines/routes (effective September 4, 2018 unless otherwise noted):

Construction-related Changes

7 Bathurst
TTC construction at Bathurst Station will require the bus loop to be closed. During the construction, buses on this route will loop around the streetcar driveway and serve customers from the streetcar platform. Schedules on this route will be adjusted slightly, but overall service levels will remain the same. The construction is planned until approximately mid-November.

47 Lansdowne (effective September 4, 2018)
The 47 Lansdowne route will divert at Lansdowne Avenue and Dundas Street due to TTC track construction work. This route will divert both ways via College Street, Dufferin Street, and Queen Street. Stops between College Street and Queen Street on Lansdowne Avenue will be temporarily out of service.

52 Lawrence West and 59 Maple Leaf (effective September 4, 2018)
Construction at Lawrence West Station continues. All services on the 52 Lawrence West and 59 Maple Leaf will continue to extend to Lawrence Station for all days of the week. With the end of the seasonal service reduction, regular service levels will return.  Construction at Lawrence West Station is scheduled to end in October 2018.

505 Dundas
TTC track renewal projects on Broadview Avenue will end, but a new track project at the intersection of Dundas and Lansdowne will begin. Service will return to regular routing in the east end, but will divert via College and Dufferin, in both directions.

506/306 Carlton
With the resumption of streetcar service, 506/306 Carlton will no longer serve High Park Station, and will terminate at High Park Loop.  Service levels will be adjusted in the afternoon peak period and late evening to reallocate resources to other, busier routes.

511 Bathurst
Service will be replaced by buses due to a shortage of streetcars.  TTC construction at Bathurst Station for pavement rehabilitation will require the bus loop to be closed. During the construction, buses on the 7 Bathurst route will share the streetcar platform. To reduce potential delays to service, buses will operate between Bathurst Station and Exhibition Loop at all times. The construction is expected to last until mid-November.

Regular service resuming as TTC construction ends

With construction ending at Main Street, Broadview and Old Mill stations, the following routes will return to regular service:

Seasonal Service Adjustments

With the end of the summer season and seasonal changes in travel patterns, seasonal service reductions will end on many routes. School trips will resume on many bus routes across the city.

  • 29 Dufferin – service returns to Exhibition Place
  • 86 Scarborough (seasonal service to the Toronto Zoo, Monday to Friday, will be reverted back to regular service hours to match the regular closing time of the zoo, at 4:30 p.m. The 86A (Kennedy Station-Toronto Zoo) branch will operate until 5:30 p.m.
  • 92 Woodbine South – additional seasonal weekend service ends
  • 121 Fort York-Esplanade – seasonal extensions to Cherry Beach and Ontario Place continues
  • 175 Bluffers Park – seasonal service to Bluffers Park continues
  • 509 Harbourfront – seasonal service increase continues

Service Changes

66 Prince Edward
In the peak periods, from Monday to Friday, service on the 66 Prince Edward route will change to provide more service in the Humber Bay Shores area. In the peak periods, scheduled service to Humber Bay Shores will change from every 12 minutes to every 10 minutes, and service to Humber Loop will change from every 12 minutes to every 15 minutes.

68 Warden
The first Sunday southbound trip of 68B (Warden Station-Major Mackenzie) at 7:22 a.m. will be cancelled as per request from York Region Transit. This trip will be replaced by a southbound trip of 68A (Warden Station-Steeles) at 7:41 a.m.

80 Queensway
New service will operate along Parkside Drive to Keele Station in the late evening from Monday to Saturday, and all day on Sunday. Scheduled service levels in the evening from Monday to Sunday will operate every 30 minutes, and every 24 minutes during the daytime on Sunday. With this improvement, full service will operate along the 80 Queensway route between Keele Station and Sherway Gardens, all day, every day. All service will operate as 80 Queensway and the 80A and 80B branch names will not be used.

84 Sheppard West
In the peak periods, the local service will be changed slightly. In the morning peak period, scheduled service on Oakdale Road and Arrow Road will change from every 17 minutes to every 19 minutes. In the afternoon peak period, it will change from every 23 minutes to every 26 minutes.

192 Airport Rocket (effective September 4, 2018)
Schedules will be adjusted in the early morning to clarify early morning service. Dundas Street West and Acorn Avenue will be the first service stop for the first trips before Kipling Station is open.

501 Queen
Service on 501 Queen, west of Humber Loop, will continue to be operated by streetcars. Due to a shortage of streetcars, the five morning peak trips that operate directly to downtown from Long Branch will be temporarily suspended.
 
502 Downtowner
Service on 502 Downtowner will be replaced by buses, due to a shortage of streetcars. Midday service on Kingston Road will also be operated by 502 Downtowner.

503 Kingston Rd
Streetcar service will continue, however, midday service will no longer operate. Service on Kingston Road during the midday will be provided by 502 Downtowner, due to a shortage of streetcars. During peak periods, streetcars will operate between Victoria Park and York Street, via Church and Wellington.

512 St Clair
With the continued delivery of low-floor streetcars, 512 St Clair schedules will be revised to reflect low-floor operation at all times. With this change, the route will be officially designated as accessible. The late evening bus replacement for TTC overhead work will end and streetcars will operate at all times.
 

Labour Day Weekend Holiday Service
