Want to have a chance to meet the man who voices Decepticon leader Megatron in the animated Transformers cartoon television series?

Well, now’s your chance as tickets are available for a meet-and-greet with Frank Welker who will be in Mississauga later this summer for the annual TFcon event. It takes place at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale July 15-17.

The Frank Welker VIP ticket costs $175 and gives those who purchase one access to a private room on July 16 to meet with Welker. It also includes having him autograph an item of your choice, getting a picture taken with the voice actor and also guarantees you front of theatre seating for Welker’s 60-minute question-and-answer session with fans.

Organizers of the event say this will be his first ever appearance in Canada.

Welker was the man behind many of the iconic characters on the show including Soundwave, Skywarp, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Rumble, Frenzy and Ravage. He also voiced Autobots including Mirage and Trailbreaker.

He was Wheelie in The Transformers: The Movie.

In the 2009 live action film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen he reprised his roles as Soundwave and Ravage and also was the voice behind Grindor and Devastator. In other live action Transformers movies – including Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Transformers: Age of Extinction – he provided the voices for Shockwave, Barricade, Soundwave and Galvatron.

Throughout his career, he’s been the voice behind dozens and dozens of cartoon characters including Scooby-Doo Mystery Gang pal Fred Jones and Scooby himself, Sven from Frozen, Nibbler from Futurama as well as Doctor Claw from Inspector Gadget.

Meanwhile, also appearing at TFcon is Dan Gilvezan, who voiced Bumblebee in the animated show, and Ian James Corlett, the voice of Cheetor in Beast Wars. Transformers artists Alex Milne, Brendan Cahill, Sara Pitre-Durocher and James Raiz will also be there.

The annual convention – billed as the world’s largest fan-run Transformers convention – features an array of collectibles and artwork from the popular franchise as well as panel discussions and autograph sessions with actors and artists from Transformers comic books and cartoons.

Last year, the convention brought in Peter Cullen, who provided the voice for Optimus Prime.
