The good, the bad, and the Crowley….
thecaptainsoiree already mentioned this connection here, but I thought I’d expand a little bit. The music played just before Crowley and Dean face off against the other two guys over the foosball table is a slightly altered version of the music that plays over and over and over again in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, which is of course an iconic Clint Eastwood cowboy movie.
Clint is “the Good” and I’d say that despite how Dean is acting, he’s the good in this scenario as well. (Clint ain’t all that “good” in the movie either!) The Ugly in the film is similar to Crowley here, in that The Good and The Ugly actually work together throughout much of the film while at the same time double-crossing each other left and right. They’re both after a treasure that they each have a clue to finding so they have to stick together to find it. The Ugly knows the name and location of the graveyard, and The Good knows which grave to dig up to find the money. (Guess what, the money is stolen from the Confederate Army during the Civil War, so there’s another little Civil War connection for you.) Those little foosball guys all lined up like that kind of look like all the gravestones lined up in the cemetery where the three cowboys have their stand-off, too.
Meanwhile, The Bad is tracking them both so he can get the treasure. So who is “the bad” on the show? Could be Sam I suppose, but I’m guessing Cole. In the movie, they’re all after the same treasure and on SPN, everyone seems to have a different goal, but otherwise, it’s a pretty similar situation.
It’s a really interesting stand-off because there are three of them so it’s not just about who is the quickest draw. There’s some strategy in there and figuring out which guy to shoot at and which guy is likely to shoot at you. The twist is that one of them played a little trick that gives him the upper hand that the other two don’t know about.
At the end, one of the three is dead and lying in the grave they dug up. One is in a very precarious position until just the last moment, and one is riding away with half the money.
Despite everyone thinking Crowley is going to kick the bucket this season, I actually would be satisfied if he got his half, went on back to Hell, and stayed there. He could even set up a foosball table. :P

Heh, I loved the reference :D I think that’s a great endgame for Crowley - I know he’s done untold damage especially...
