Golden Week is one of Japan's busiest holiday seasons in the end of April through around May 5th. Traditionally it has been also the time to make a huge profit for the film industry in Japan. The most successful anime film series in the recent Golden Week is Detective Conan, which is based on the manga by Gosho Aoyama and its TV anime adaptation produced by TMS Entertainment.

Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea is the 17th Conan film released in Japan on April 20th this year. The film has earned 3,509,406,150 yen (US$35,592,354) and 2,915,894 moviegoers in 51 days since its release, and has become the highest grossing film in the series surpassing the past record of the 13th film in 2009, The Raven Chaser's 3,5 billion yen. As of June 9th, the film's box office record has been already 109.4% higher than last year's film, The Eleventh Striker which earned 3.29 billion yen (US$33.2 million) in total. It seems popularity of the series is still very strong, in other words,

it's still a long way for Conan till he gets back his body as Shinichi Kudo.
