After Saajan was declared a box office hit, Suhakar Bokade launched Sapne Sajan Ki. He wanted a new boy and girl in the lead. He did a photo session with Suchitra Krishnamurthy and Deepti Bhatnagar. He also auditioned Mamta Kulkarni. He chose her for the film. A Salman Khan look a like was signed for the film. They renamed him Saajan. But the distributors told Bokade they did not want newcomers . So Bokade dropped Mamta from the film. Her debut film released and flopped badly. This made Bokade feel his decision was correct. Mamta went to the press saying she does'nt work with flop producers . This angered Bokade and he narrated the story of how it was him that dropped her from the film.
