After the DCEU suffered a huge shake-up in the departure of Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill — though all parties are still being coy about the facts of the matter — the fates of its other upcoming film were put into question.

Would The Batman still have a place in a film universe back-pedalling to Supergirl’s timeline? From what reports say about writer/director Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman film, things are still going slowly but smoothly with the long-gestating and troubled film.

According to The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez, things are on the move — specifically with the film’s new screenplay after Reeves ditched the one written by Batman portrayer Ben Affleck.

Take a look:

The first draft of Batman’s first solo film since The Dark Knight Rises is allegedly in the hands of DC and Warner Bros. That’s got to feel good for the development team, which has seen the film fluctuate over the past months as its would-be star Affleck not only faced personal troubles so daunting that his continued involvement has been seriously questioned, but may no longer match the age requirements for the Batman story Reeves wishes to tell.

More will likely be made clear as the film nears its projected 2019 start of production.
