Ryan Schreiber is the founder and editor-in-chief of Pitchfork, the most trusted voice in music.
Since the brand’s inception in 1996, Schreiber has cultivated the brightest and most influential team in music criticism, leading the site from grassroots, DIY beginnings to become music journalism’s foremost incubator of award-winning talent. His unique editorial vision and ear for emerging sounds has earned Pitchfork a reputation for discovering many of the music world’s most critically lauded and commercially successful acts, including Grammy-winning artists such as Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Frank Ocean, and St. Vincent. Under his leadership, Pitchfork has received four Webby Awards and three National Magazine Award nominations for excellence across multiple platforms, including an Ellie win in 2013 for General Excellence in Digital Media.
Schreiber has also launched several successful offshoots such as the annual Pitchfork Music Festivals in Chicago and Paris, the perfect-bound quarterly publication “The Pitchfork Review,” and Pitchfork’s pioneering video platform, Pitchfork.tv. He has twice been featured in Time Magazine’s annual Time 100 poll of the world’s most influential people, and holds an honorary doctorate in the arts from Columbia College Chicago.
