COURSE DESCRIPTION (Tuskegee Humanities Elective, HUMN 200, possible Art credit): Using a digital camera and the written word, students will explore London, England as a backdrop to develop storytelling projects on a small group basis. Through exposing students to photographic/visual, oral, and written stories in London, students will create original stories in the form of photographs and text. These portfolios of works will culminate in printed books/magazines on the basis of digital and written, creative journals. These stories will stem from select themes which will provide the basis for the narrative arc of storytelling projects. Students will be exposed to examples of locally and nationally created stories through visits to museums, theater/film, storytelling events, art studios and lectures by artists and other storytelling professionals The course requires a high degree of autonomy as well as a genuine commitment to group work and cultivating successful group dynamics as students will spend much of their daily activity in the field within their small groups in carrying out their storytelling projects. Students will have regular critiques of their journals and photographs and receive as well as give thoughtful feedback to others' work. LAF’s include CP and CC and LAI’s include C and IMLI.
