The liar says: "was attacked immediately after its founding" (15 May 1948) when it was not, when there were no attacks on the Jewish partition after the "country"s founding or before, but the Deir Yassin massacre was on 9 April 1948, well before, pure terrorism, a particularly murderous attack by Jews on a peaceful Arab village, and that was only one of many.

The murderous "de-Arabisation" of Haifa, getting rid of the 75,000 Arabs who lived there, began in December 1947. "The Jewish campaign of terrorization, begun in December, included heavy shelling, sniper fire, rivers of ignited oil and fuel sent down the mountain-side, and detonated barrels of explosives, and went on for the first months of 1948, ..." Jewish midnight massacres of Arab villages, again prior to 15 May 1948, were another aspect. David Ben-Gurion, in a meeting at his home on 19 February 1948, expressed his pleasure at the midnight massacre of the village of Sa`sa a few days before, on 14‒15 February, but was disappointed to receive reports from all over Palestine that the Arabs were peaceful. "All of those present, without exception, reported that rural Palestine showed no desire to fight or attack, and was defenceless." So Ben-Gurion gave his orders: "the best thing to do was `to continue to terrorize the rural areas ... through a series of offensives'".

That's only a small part of the story of the ethnic cleansing of Palestine in 1948. And it didn't end then.

Holocaust Facts: Where Does the Figure of 6 Million Victims Come From?

Considering the amount of original research that has been done in recent decades, is this number still considered accurate by scholars of the subject?

One of the most well-known, if not iconic, facts known about the Holocaust is the number of Jewish victims killed by Nazi Germany up through the end of World War II. Perhaps not surprisingly, it is also this number - six million - that Holocaust deniers aim at when trying to discredit the essential nature of the Holocaust.

Where did the number six million come from? And considering the amount of original research that has been done in recent decades, is it still considered accurate by scholars of the subject?

The number seems to have first been mentioned by Dr. Wilhelm Hoettl, an Austrian-born official in the Third Reich and a trained historian who served in a number of senior positions in the SS.

In November 1945, Hoettl testified for the prosecution in the Nuremberg trials of accused Nazi war criminals. Later, in the 1961 trial in Israel of Adolf Eichmann, he also submitted to a lengthy series of questions from the prosecution, speaking under oath from a courtroom in Austria.

On both occasions, he described a conversation he had had with Eichmann, the SS official who had principal responsibility for the logistics of the Jewish genocide, in Budapest in August 1944. In the 1961 testimony, Hoettl recalled how “Eichmann … told me that, according to his information, some 6,000,000 Jews had perished until then -- 4,000,000 in extermination camps and the remaining 2,000,000 through shooting by the Operations Units and other causes, such as disease, etc.”

On its website, Yad Vashem, Israel’s principal Holocaust research center, quotes the Eichmann reference, and then says that both early and more recent estimates by a variety of different scholars have fallen between five and six million.

Such estimates are arrived at by comparing pre-war census data with population estimates made after World War II. The Germans, though they treated their plan for annihilation of the Jews as a state secret of the highest order, also kept scrupulous records of deportations and gassings, which also serve as a vital source of data.

I get it, I think, but "moral imagination" doesn't work. May I suggest "consistent moral framework or system of ethics"?

The lack of empathy is a curious feature. It is not a complete lack. From observation over the years, I have noticed that blacks are capable of empathy only as they see others' pain as being identical in form to their own. Even that simple equation is infrequently realized. Frankly, that's why I find complete avoidance of blacks to be the only pragmatic approach. There are some who are decent people, but 50% would sooner cut your throat for the Nike-equivalent in your wallet. Why take the chance?

If this has to stop, then what has to stop first is Christians poodles begging their Jewish Masters for crumbs.

Here we go: Holocaust Denial.

Don't worry. Personally, I think the Holocaust occurred substantially as described, but if others want to argue differently, I don't see it as heresy. I'm no more offended than if someone wants to argue the Japanese could have successfully invaded Hawaii. Not my opinion, but...

I will point out that while he has flirted with outright Holocaust Denial in the past, David Irving has found and published on his website what he regards as irrefutable evidence that 2.5 million Jews were killed in the 'Operation Reinhard' camps alone. While he is skeptical about the importance of Auschwitz, I imagine he'd agree at least a million additional Jews were killed by the Einsatzgruppen in the East, died of starvation in the Warsaw Ghetto, etc, etc.

So we're at 3.5 million as a minimum figure -- I'd go with at least 5 million myself. Obviously, the difference would have been very important to Jew #3,773,751 but as a moral matter, I don't see the distinction. 3.5 million is substantially as awful as 5 million. Have 6 million if it's important to you. No one will ever know with any great precision anyway. As far as I'm concerned, it's like arguing about what proportion of Iran's population the Mongols killed. Past a point, a definitive answer simply isn't to be found, and it's certainly not something that's worth assaulting elderly men in the streets over.

Actually, the only significant area of controversy I see is whether Hitler knew and approved. There's no clear evidence. Irving argues he didn't -- I'd guess he did. That particular question could do with some dispassionate analysis.

As to why not many paid attention to the Holocaust before 1961 -- it's bloody dull. To be honest our problem in the West is too much education for everybody. Education is one of those things that is good in moderation. Too much can be extremely harmful. Higher education should only be available to a very small minority who actually need it.
