- Afghan officials say that the Taliban destroyed highway bridges in Maidan Wardak Province, cutting off road traffic between the capital Kabul and the provinces of Ghazni, Zabul and Kandahar. - Twenty people are killed in Schoharie County, New York, when a stretch limousine fails to stop at an intersection, veers into a parking lot and strikes an empty vehicle, which in turn hits two pedestrians.
