On Friday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Forces” (Tiger Forces branch) – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Ba’ath Battalions), and Iraqi Militiamen – launched an assault on the town of Al-Nasiriyah from their positions at Tal Na’am in east Aleppo, where they were confronted by a large contingent from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) at the southern axis.

Following a violent exchange of hostilities, the SAA’s Cheetah Forces and their allies imposed full control over Al-Nasiriyah, killing over 25 enemy combatants from ISIS, while destroying 4 of their armored vehicles that were mounted with 23mm anti-aircraft machine guns and the terrorist group’s main weapons depot.

With the success at Al-Nasiriyah, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies have now advanced to the town of Barayjeh, which is approximately 7km away from the Kuweires Military Airport’s southwestern perimeter; if captured, the pro-government forces will two villages away from the airbase and the imperative Aleppo-Raqqa Highway.

Last night, the Syrian Arab Army soldiers at the Kuweires Military Airport carried out a special ops mission to cutoff the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway in order to obstruct the terrorist group’s main supply route to the strategic Thermal Plant.

The Thermal Plant’s centralized location makes it an integral site for the terrorist group because it is located along the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway that feeds to a number of small roads towards the Jabboul Lake region of the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside.
