New AG Sworn-In

By Lansana Fofanah.

The Chairman and Leader of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change, Charles Francis Margai, has been duly sworn in as the new Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

The ceremony which took place yesterday at State House in the presence of His Excellency the President, Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio and the Vice Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, was witnessed by the Chief Justice, Abdulai Cham and the outgoing AG, Joseph F. Kamara.

Taking the Oath of Office, Charles Margai vowed to work in the interest of every Sierra Leonean, and to uphold the principles of equal right and justice.

He said that, people should not misunderstood his appointment as a witch-hunt, but to be rest assured that, he is determined to work for the interest of all.

President Bio admonished the Attorney General to ensure that, lawlessness and indiscipline become a thing of the past as his appointment was never a mistake, but a step in the right direction towards serving justice for all.

Charles Margai is the first Cabinet Minister to take up his appointment since his position does not require parliamentary approval.

President Bio’s government has received accolades from around the world for being the first government to appoint an opposition party leader to such an enviable opposition, and is also a clear manifestation of his desire to run a government of inclusion.

Ever since President Bio appointed Charles F. Margai, majority of Sierra Leoneans both at home and abroad have jumped to the conclusion that, President Bio is much serious in the fight against corruption by appointing one of the longest legal practitioners who has been yearning to fight injustice and graft.
