The SCAD Savannah Equestrian team won both the 2017 ANRC Novice and National Team Championships on Sunday.

Two years ago, the Bees made history as they became the first college to win both the Novice and National team divisions at the American National Riding Commission (ANRC) National Championships. SCAD has now repeated this historic feat at home as they hosted this year. This is the third year in-a-row that SCAD has won the Novice Team Division and the third time in four years the Bees have won the National Team Division.

Hannah Hlopak was the Novice Division High Point Rider while Meredith Denny was the National Division High Point Rider. Tatum Tatreau was the National Division Reserve High Point Rider.

Riders earn points in four phases – the Written Phase, the Program Ride Phase, the Hunter Derby Phase and the Medal Phase. The points are then added up to determine the final individual – and team – standings.

At the Novice level, SCAD earned 156.60 points for the National Championship while the Reserve National Champion was Goucher College with 150.57 points.

Hlopak earned a total of 79.44 to earn High Point Rider status. Grace Crawford finished in fourth (74.41 points), Mariel Cooper finished fifth (72.83 points) and Sarah Gordon placed tenth.

At the National level, the Bees earned 158.88 points to win the National Championship while Centenary University earned 152.78 points to be named the Reserve National Champion.

Denny earned 79.61 for High Point Rider status while Tatreau earned followed closely with 79.28 points for Reserve High Point. Madison Albano finished in eighth with 72.46 points.

On May 5-8, SCAD will travel to Lexington, Ky. for the IHSA National Championships.
