Mariah Carey unveiled another quintessential kiss-off, “A No No,” set to appear on her forthcoming album, Caution, out November 16th.
“A No No” is savvy reinterpretation of Lil Kim’s “Crush on You” remix, which featured Notorious B.I.G. and Lil Cease. Carey croons over a sped-up version of the instrumental, brushing off a no-good lover trying to win her back: “Off with your head/ Now slither out the door/ Snakes in the grass/ It’s time to cut the lawn.” The song also makes excellent use of Biggie’s classic “Crush On You” refrain, “He’s a slut, he’s a ho, he’s a freak/ Got a different girl every day of the week.”
“A No No” marks the latest offering from Caution, following “GTFO,” “With You” and “The Distance.” Caution marks Carey’s 15th studio album and first since 2014’s Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse.
Carey will embark on a North American tour in support of Caution next year. The trek kicks off February 27th at the Pavilion in Dallas, Texas and wraps April 6th at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
