    General Tips

The Singaporean government began promoting art and culture in the city in the 1990s as a “gateway between the East and West,” and several of the largest arts event and festivals in South East Asia now take place in the city, notably Singapore Art Fair which takes place at the end of November annually.

The six-week long Singapore International Festival of Arts celebrates theater, opera and dance in August and September, though at the iconic Esplanade, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra have their national home. The city has a particularly vibrant theater scene, supported by the Esplanade Theatres on the Bay, and the Repertory Theatre.
