Emmerdale fans will be seeing a lot more of Dr Liam Cavanagh, as it's been revealed that he's now a show regular.
Actor Jonny McPherson has been appearing as the local doctor on and off since 2014, but it seems that soap bosses have bigger plans for him in the months ahead.
Jonny's agents The Narrow Road Co have announced the news on Twitter, confirming that he's now a full-time cast member.
They wrote: "Our wonderful client @jonnymcpherson is a new regular in @emmerdale - say hello to Dr Liam Cavanagh!"
Dr Cavanagh's first few years in the show saw him appear occasionally on medical-related matters, but viewers have been introduced to his family this year.
Louisa Clein has been appearing since March as Liam's wife Maya, alongside Mimi Slinger as their daughter Leanna.
Over the next few episodes, we'll see the Cavanagh family thrown into some classic soapy drama as Maya starts growing closer to David Metcalfe.
Bonding over their respective relationship troubles, Maya and David come close to sharing a kiss at the shop, but all hell breaks loose when Liam catches them out.
Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David, has teased that there's more to come for his character and Maya in the coming weeks – so only time will tell whether the Cavanagh family survive the storm ahead.
Emmerdale continues tonight (June 29) at 7pm on ITV. See the soap's full World Cup schedule changes here.
