One episode down we have a feeling the drama will get interesting as it will progress.

We are big fans of Zahid Ahmed so when we discovered that he was working alongside the very pretty Iqra Aziz in a play called Gustakh Ishq for Urdu1, we made made sure we caught the play when it went on air last night.

Written by Mustafa Ayub, the drama for once sees a head strong girl called Nayab who is not scared of anyone and does not hesitate from standing up for what is right but is not a snob herself but rather has a heart of gold who is just trying to please everyone.

With Aziz playing Nayab, the character is introduced to us as soon as the drama begins. Her father (Firdous Jamal) loves her, but it is her stepmother who has a hard time accepting her even though she refers to her as Amma and adores her little stepsisters. Being a topper in her class, Nayab is not that popular amongst her college mates because every single teacher praises her and not them.

But with a factory being constructed near the college, her so-called friends think this is a good way to get her in trouble by telling her that out of all of them only she has enough guts to go to the factory owner and tell him how wrong they are for constructing this since the fumes can be quite harmful for the students as well as for the girls residing in the hostel.

So with Nayab all pumped up, she goes and meets one of the owners who by the way also owns the college where she studies called Sikander (Zahid Ahmed), who is quite arrogant and doesn't really give her any importance, but agrees to see her somehow. However, with both of them not liking one another, Nayab does not succeed in making him see why his factory can be harmful for the college students.

With that worry still in her mind, Nayab has to face another issue with her father going abroad for work as she now has to think of a place to stay since she knows her stepmother does not like her so she comes up with the idea of staying at the college hostel, to which her father does not agree upon as he has something else in mind for her.

If worrying about where to stay was not enough Nayab faces another setback when Sikander complains about her in front of the principal about her behavior towards him. Now as we said before, Nayab is a headstrong girl who stands by what she says, however, as a result the most unfortunate thing happens when the principal expels her all because she dared to question the owner of the college.

Now what will Nayab do as this was most unexpected since she was the best student in the college and no one could ever imagine her being suspended leaves her future hanging in the air. But what will she do and will she again go and see Sikandar is what we hope to see next week.

Direction by Furqan T Siddiqui is always pleasant to watch. We were also very fond of his drama Ghayal. Speaking of Zahid Ahmed, well he is in a class of his own and the only thing one can do is praise him but somehow there seems to be a similarity between his character, Sikander and Saif from Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua. But then again since both plays have just begun, let’s see how both of his characters develop as the story progresses. Iqra Aziz in the first episode holds the play together and is a welcome addition to the newer list of actresses currently working on television.

With us hoping that Gustakh Ishq gets interesting with each episode don't forget to watch it every Friday at 8 pm only on Urdu1.
