The 8th edition of All India IEEE Computer Society Students Young Professionals Congress (AICSSYC) was held at Goa College of Engineering, Ponda. The event was organised by IEEE Computer Society and co-sponsored by IEEE Young Professionals, IEEEmadC, IEEE-Xtreme, IEEE-Student professional awareness activities, Townscript and OYO.
The programme was an opportunity for more than 180 students and young professional participants from across India to interact with minds from the world of technological breakthroughs, and growing entrepreneurship, thus allowing them to unlock their own potential by using the IEEE network.
The theme of this year's event was '3D Printing'. The formal inaugural function of the three-day event was held at the Academic Hall of Goa College of Engineering. Dignitaries present for the occasion were chief guest and minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude while guests of honour were Chair of IEEE Bombay Section, Abhay Phansikar; membership director, IEEE Computer Society, Eric Berkowitz; student activities Chair, IEEE Bombay Section, Kiran Talele; SYP coordinator, IEEE CS, Prasanth Mohan; vice president, IEEE CS MGA, Forrest Shull; principal of Goa College of Engineering, Vinayak Shet and student branch chairman, IEEE GEC SB, Gary Sequeira.
As a part of the inaugural ceremony winners of Richard E Merwin Student Leadership Scholarship were felicitated. Past council members of IEEE Goa College of Engineering Student Branch who worked to bring IEEE GEC SB to the fore were also felicitated. The inauguration also saw the distribution of certificates to participants for successfully completing the PCB making workshop conducted in September.
The inaugural ceremony was followed by a keynote talk from CEO, GeeksUp, Senthil Kumar.
The second day had sessions focused on the theme '3D printing' by CEO of Imaginarium, Guruprasad Rao; co-founder, Ethereal Machines Kaushik Mudda; maxillofacial radiologist, Suresh Ludhwani; co-founder of 3Dexter, Shantanu; co-founder of Tvasta Research (IIT Madras), Aditya VS. The technical talks were followed by a leadership talk by Leading Opportunity Project at Rethink, Arya Murali.
The cultural night that followed witnessed performances like 'Dekhni', 'Samai' etc. Attendees exhibited their talents through dance, songs and various art forms.
On the final day, the much awaited talks related to leadership, professional development and volunteering with IEEE were delivered by speaker director, India Services, Full Contact, Jaison Abey Sabu; founder, Jungroo Learning, Sethuraman; volunteer, IEEEXtreme, John Benedict; volunteer at IEEEmadC, Sangram Chavan; point of Contact, Google Crowdsource Community, Ali Mustafa; SYP Chair, IEEE CS, Prasanth Mohan; vice president, IEEE CS MGA, Forrest Shull; and membership director, IEEE Computer Society, Eric Berkowitz.
