I'll never forget reading the news about the Orlando shooting. I was all set to play LA Pride a few days later and watched people around me becoming fearful and questioning their security and mine. But I felt only two things: 1.) Anger that anyone had to feel scared to attend Pride and 2.) Determination to play the best f---ing show ever, because all of a sudden it meant even more. In my 'Make America Gay Again' hat, on June 11, 2016, I can honestly say I've never felt so connected with the crowd around me as we all rallied together with middle fingers up.
My LGBTQ fans and friends are some of my very most near and dear. Nobody will ever dull their shine and nobody will ever stop me from standing up for them.
