I want Marathi industry to be free of groupism: Shruti Marathe
Donning a Santa cap, Shruti Marathe was all set to celebrate Christmas with full traditional fervour when she came to Nagpur a few days ago. “Since childhood, I used to look forward to the month of December because it has a very Christmasy feel. The fact that my parents bought us a lot of gifts for this festival added to the cheer. That is one of the main reasons I chose to get married to Gaurav Ghatnekar in this month two years ago (on December 4),” said she.

Shruti admitted that more than festive décor, she looks forward to certain festive goodies.
“My mother-in-law makes a special Christmas cake at home at home; preparations begin weeks in advance as she soaks fruits, berries and dry fruits in wine and finally the Christmas cake is baked. It is so delicious that I can’t imagine Christmas without it,” she shared.
Season of Santa is also about making a wish. So, what is her biggest wish this year, we asked? To this, Shruti replied, “I want Marathi industry to be free of groupism. There are hardly any casting directors in our industry and most of the producers- directors prefer to work with a set of actors whom they keep repeating even if they don’t suit a particular role. This system needs to change! On personal front, I hope I’m blessed with better health. I have had a spate of ill health, first with dengue and then with my back playing up, so I hope to be healthier in 2019.”
