In the nail-biting final match of the 2018 MFA Super Cup Chhinga Veng FC defeated Chanmari FC to emerge as the champion played at AR Lammual on Monday afternoon.
A second-half strike from Lalrammawia proved to be the difference in the Lalbiakliana Memorial MFA Super Cup final as Chhinga Veng FC overcame Chanmari FC to lift the trophy second time in a row.
The conditions of the pitched, due to rain, destroyed the charm of the game as both teams finding it hard to create clear-cut chances.
Although either side created a couple of space and chances, however, were guilty of some wayward finishing as Lalrammawia and MS Dawngliana came close for Chhinga Veng FC while Laldampuia and Lalmuanzova spurned chances for Chanmari FC.
It was in the 66th minute of the match Chanmari FC´s goalkeeper Lalruatpuia managed to clear a corner only as far as Lalrammawia who needed no second invitation to slot the ball home.
Going a goal down Chanmari FC fought back for the equalizer, however, defending champion stood their ground till the final whistle to lift their second ever MFA Super Cup Trophy.
The winner was awarded 1,50,000/-(One Lakh Fifty Thousand Only) along with the Super Cup Trophy while Runners-up get away with Rs. 50,000/-(Fifty Thousand Only). Semi-Finalists Mizoram Police FC and Aizawl FC takes Rs 15,000/- each and Quarterfinalist earned Rs 6,000/- each
