The inescapable hit marks its 15th week at No. 1 as it nears the record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," featuring Justin Bieber, moves to within a week of the record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, it celebrates another milestone on the Streaming Songs chart dated Sept. 2.

“Despacito” rules Streaming Songs at No. 1 for a 15th week with 46.4 million U.S. streams in the week ending Aug. 17, according to Nielsen Music, the most weeks at No. 1 in the chart’s history (it began in 2013). The song passes Desiigner's "Panda," which led Streaming Songs for 14 weeks beginning on April 30, 2016. Notably, the reign of “Despacito” has occurred without another song knocking it off the top spot, while “Panda” led for three- and 11-week periods during its time at No. 1.

"Despacito," the first predominantly Spanish-language No. 1 on Streaming Songs and only the second non-primarily English leader in the chart's history (after PSY's "Gangnam Style" in 2013), debuted on Streaming Songs at No. 50 on Feb. 25 and reached No. 33 before bounding to No. 14 (May 6) following the April 17 arrival of the Bieber remix; the song assumed the No. 1 spot three weeks later.

Most Weeks at No. 1 on Streaming Songs (Song, Artist, First Week at No. 1)

15, “Despacito,” Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber (May 27, 2017)

14, “Panda,” Desiigner (April 30, 2016)

13, “Fancy,” Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX (May 31, 2014)

13, “Wrecking Ball,” Miley Cyrus (Sept. 28, 2013)

12, “Closer,” The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey (Sept. 3, 2016)

12, “Uptown Funk!,” Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars (Jan. 24, 2015)

"Despacito" is approaching 1 billion on-demand U.S. streams, currently sitting at 941.7 million through Aug. 17. It’s the most-streamed song in the U.S. in 2017; its closest competitor, Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” sits at 799.7 million for the year.

Should “Despacito” last another week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, it will tie the record for most weeks spent at No. 1 with Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day,” which led for 16 weeks in 1995-1996.

Music Video Moves: Meanwhile, a pair of tracks make Streaming Songs debuts or re-entries after their music videos premiered within the tracking week. Bruno Mars’ “Versace on the Floor” debuts at No. 37, garnering 10.9 million streams (up 73 percent) and becoming the third track from Mars’ 2016 album 24K Magic to make the chart (its best-performing song, “That’s What I Like,” topped out at No. 3 earlier this year), while Logic's "1-800-273-8255," featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid, re-enters at No. 46 following the Aug. 17 premiere of its official video. The seven-minute clip, which also stars actors Don Cheadle and Matthew Modine, helps the song jump by 17 percent to 10.5 million U.S. streams.

‘Back’ to the Chart: Louis Tomlinson makes his first Streaming Songs appearance as a soloist with "Back to You," featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals. The song debuts No. 50, garnering 9.9 million streams, up 5 percent. Tomlinson has made four trips to the top 10 as a member of One Direction, led by the No. 2 debut and peak of 2013’s “Best Song Ever.”
