Except that almost no one in that thread denied the existence of gas chambers, although you have many denying “knowledge,” which isn’t the same thing. The allegation is that Kramer claimed no gas chambers and then retracted the claim — which is the same as not claiming it — in particular because the proof he was challenged with at trial was that he had himself installed a gas chamber at Natzweiler-Struthof.

Mengele is also cited in that thread, but he says nothing about gas chambers whatsoever, either that they existed or didn’t, so I don’t know how anyone can claim that he “denies” them. We get Kues’s list of “conveniently dead” perpetrators, but none of them are quoted on the nonexistence of gas chambers, with the exception of the aforementioned Kramer, Richard Baer, and Gustav Wagner. That leaves Baer. Baer is one guy who could reliably be counted on to say there were no gas chambers. One guy vs. the several dozen Nazis who testified that there was gas chambers at Birkenau — not to mention the survivors that testified as well. You’re going to hang your case on one guy with a very good reason to lie?

Change “people” to “deniers” and “WWII & Nuremberg” to “everything,” and you’re onto something.

van Roden was referring specifically and ONLY to the Malmedy case. You remember that one, right? It’s the one in which the SS shot American POWs. If this allegation by van Roden was true, it’s hardly surprising given the context. To generalize this to the entirety of American prosecutions or to Holocaust prosecutions in general strikes me as dishonest.

So Ian Cobain claims the British engaged in torture. Fine, let’s assume he’s correct. They did this at Nuremberg, presumably, then, with the Americans and French looking on? They also engaged in torture during the trials in countries in which the British took no part, e.g., Poland, the Soviet Union, and West Germany?

Your whole argument relies on the notion of a sample of one. I say, “Here’s several dozen SS witnesses,” and you say, “But there’s this one guy who said not.” And I’m supposed to deconstruct the whole history for one guy? Are you nuts?
