I’d say you didn’t give much attention to the article, or you have a reading comprehension problem. The reference to the “Fire and Fury” is only in passing and is only because of the citation of the warning of Tony Blair. I very cogent, germane warning.

I have been commenting here for a few months about Mr. Napolitano’s role in maintaining public acceptance of the anti-Russian hysteria. Years ago, he seemed a breath of fresh air, calling out those in political power for their disregard of the Constitution. I’m now soured, and admit to looking here each Thursday for the propaganda that often is to be found in his columns.

(To the extent this one is intended to bring to broader public attention a further erosion of the Constitution’s supposed constraints, some more detail with citations should have been included. But Mr. Napolitano is a commentator, a TV creature, so go search elsewhere to learn.)

I believe that one purpose of this article is to pump a new anti-Trump book and what might have been labeled by a more aggressive propagandist its subject’s “obstruction” of it, conveying the process crime theme of those cheerleading Mr. Mueller. Note how this is done in the opening paragraph:

This clunk has nothing to do with the rest of the sentence, much less the topic being addressed. Two more references to the new book come later, that in the penultimate paragraph straining to make some connection to the subject of Mr. Napolitano’s essay. But all three would be redlined as needless and distracting if this were being graded as an essay about legislation now pending in the Congress.

Mr. Napolitano may no longer hold public office, but Judge Waterboy remains part of the Establishment.

Of course, everyone should make his own choice, no doubt about it. Yet I would still recommend reading precisely those writers from outside the anglosaxon world, if not in the original than at least in a good translation. Besides, European literary culture is essentially French and German, with consistently vital contributions from Russia (since the 19th century), Italy, and less frequently from Poland, Scandinavia and Spain. The English have always considered themselves as not being part of Europe.

With respect, this list would have put me off reading for life, especially struggling with the original languages.

Don’t forget the Argentinians, since they are very, very European, such as Sarmiento, Borges, Sábato, etc. If you can, best to read the original language, of course, because traduttori, traditori!

Like Captain Nemo, I agree with the article (its great) and the nature of the corporates, but not sure I can see them pulling it off.

Planned economics don’t work so well, and in order to minimize the “extremism” mentioned in the article citizens will have to be well fed. It’s a lot of currencies and debts and public works to deal with. Socialism isn’t compatible with progress, they’re already screwing up the EU, and they haven’t really been at it in this form that long. Do it wrong and there are a lot of philosophies out there that could rise up and put an end to it.

I agree with the article about what existing capitalism is trying to do, but not necessarilly with the conclusion that it will actually succeed.
In its march towards its goals, existing capitalism is creating all sorts of contradictions, tensions, unsatisfactions and chaos, which generate reactions against the order it aims to create, as that order is in itself highly structurally problematic and unsound.

Of course it is possible that the dystopia will win, because human societies, history has proven, can exist a very long time in a very deficient and dissatisfactory state, but it is also possible that the contradictions created by that ongoing and future capitalist process will eventually make it destroy itself.

Interesting article, and everything about supranational forces/structures (or “Corporatocracy”), greatly affecting evolution (or de-evolution ?!) of the world as a whole and locally, when it comes to material matters is true. As for ideological or spiritual underlining of these processes, I don’t think it’s all about “Normality” or just letting things to go as they are because it’s good for Capitalism. Capitalism is an economic system, which we have elevated to a social system. It only has one fundamental value, exchange value, which isn’t much of a value, at least not in terms of organizing society or maintaining any sort of human culture or reverence for the natural world it exists in. In capitalist society, everything, everyone, every object and sentient being, every concept and human emotion, is worth exactly what the market will bear … no more, no less, than its market price. There is no other measure of value.

It’s clear that US, and global capitalism, prefers active consumers over active citizens, and maybe it explains why the US has such a worthless and dysfunctional political process.

Sheriff Arpaio arrested illegal aliens and it might be news to the judge, but most illegal aliens have brown skin and hail from Mexico and central America. Given the threat to police officers lives, I hardly think body armor is militarizing our police. Civil forfeiture is troubling though and may INCREASE crime and violence toward police officers. Taking what little money a person has and or impounding his vehicle does nothing to reduce crime and given the limited options to earn money facing many criminal defendants it may actually provoke such a defendant to commit future crimes and do all they can to avoid arrest.

Once any other ethnicity is in the majority and can claim U.S. territory as their own land permanently (e.g. Mexico Norte). they will operate in the way that every group of people except masochistic White idiots do, and arrange everything to THEIR advantage, while everyone else can go scratch around the edges.

The state orchestrated riot in Charlottesville is accomplishing its goals beyond the wildest dreams of its perpetrators.

I called the nature of the Boston rally on Friday.

The elite can tolerate only an occasional Charlottesville before ordinary people notice that the system is not working the way it’s s’posed to. Hence, Boston and many more like it.

It doesn’t even have to be pro-white, all it need be is anti immigration.

It appears that these internet gatekeepers are violating “net neutrality” and must be brought to task for their behavior…

Because falsehoods are always worth fighting, and that includes false hope. Because there is no problem so dire that it cannot be made worse by wasting finite time and resources on a “solution” that cannot work. Because the attempting of the doomed-to-fail “solutions” people often oppose will bring backlash, some of which may fall upon me and mine.

It kind of makes one sick to hear Anatoly rant for free speech. I mean, he cheered Peter Thiel’s use of state power against a publisher who offended him. That’s why it’s rational that nobody trusts a bunch of rightists in Boston when they claim to rally for free speech.

And what does carrying on on the internet, openly or “samizdat” accomplish? NOTHING. Because we still live — and die — in meatspace. “Meme war” is mostly nonsense, as is the whole idea that we just need to convince enough ordinary folks to side with us. Because so what if the majority is on our side? Voting doesn’t change anything. As “Antidem” put it in a review of Trump’s half year in office:

Ask yourself a question: If this system, while under the complete control of the putative “right”, is unable even to repeal Obamacare – a deeply unpopular and plainly dysfunctional program that is quickly collapsing under its own weight and which the now-ruling party promised to repeal within its first week in power – in half a year of trying, what could possibly make you think it will ever be able to deal with the larger issues, both social and economic, that plague our society? What makes you think it will ever ban abortion, or repeal gay “marriage”, or arrest the slow banishment of the Christian faith from the public square, or effectively stop the immivasion that promises to soon make the founding stock of this nation a minority in its own lands, or bring any restraint whatsoever to the out-of-control welfare state, or get our nation out of the empire business, or end the Fed, or wrangle our astronomical national debt under control? And yes, maybe Congress will eventually get around to some weak-tea repeal of Obamacare and its replacement with a slightly less obnoxious and ramshackle state program. After all the compromises and backroom dealing that will have to go into getting the true centers of power to allow it to pass, can anyone believe that it will really do what we want it to – deliver us good healthcare at affordable prices?

No matter how much we may outnumber them, the elites will still get their way.
