The City is reviewing the draft of its master trail plan developed in partnership with Akron Metro Area Transportation Study (AMATS) and Environmental Design Group (EDG) of Akron. Throughout the planning process there have been varied opportunities for community input and participation including the January 11, 2018 the public meeting with over 50 residents and businesses in attendance, the 2018 State of the City event and the Celebration of Education held at Green High School. On August 18, 2018 city leaders partnered with AMATS to host a "Bike-N-Brainstorm" asking cyclists for feedback after biking a preliminary alignment connecting central Green to Boettler Park, the route that achieved the highest ranking in the Master Trail Plan matrix.
During January of 2019, the public will have several opportunities to hear about the final draft of the Master Trail Plan. The first presentation will take place Tuesday, January 8 as part of City Council's committee agenda. Other presentations include: Parks & Recreation Board, January 9 @ 6:00pm, AMATS Citizen's Involvement Committee at Community Hall in Central Park, January 17 @ 6:30pm and Planning & Zoning Commission on January 16, 2019 @ 6:00pm.
Following the January presentations, legislation will be presented to City Council. Upon City Council approval and adoption, the Master Trail Plan will become part of the city's Transportation Plan.
