The New York Times, having run a dozen news stories on the shooting of a little black girl in the Houston area in the hopes that she was murdered by a Great White Defendant, now says that, actually, the story is really boring, so just forget all about it and don’t draw any lessons from yet another media Hate YT fiasco.
It’s kind of like Sabrina Rubin Erdely’s “A Rape on Campus” disaster for Jann Wenner’s Rolling Stone, which turned out to be incredibly boring. It didn’t have anything to do with interesting subjects like, say, ethnic animus, such as who hates whom. Instead, it was all about journalistic methodological miscues and other tedious topics that you would find dull beyond belief. Why do you even care about technical foul-ups like Rolling Stone asserting that a UVA fraternity conducts an annual gang rape on broken glass fraternal initiation. Ho-hum!
So don’t pay any attention to this soporific subject. What could be more boring that that the most influential media property in the world, the New York Times, is out to frame horrific hate crimes upon your personal race, even in the most dubious of circumstances? If you were a real man, you wouldn’t care that the New York Times had been making up insane libels about your race:

HOUSTON — It was a face that haunted many people in the nation’s fourth-largest city: The police sketch of the unshaven white man who witnesses and the authorities said had opened fire on a black family in a car the day before New Year’s Eve.
A second grader riding in the car with her mother and three sisters — Jazmine Barnes, 7 — was shot and killed. And the man in the sketch — thinly built, in his 30s or 40s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, driving a red pickup — became the focal point of what appeared to be a racially motivated shooting that rattled black residents, elected officials and civil-rights activists in Houston and around the country.
… But it has turned out far differently.
On Sunday, the authorities charged a suspect with capital murder who is not the man in the sketch. He is a 20-year-old African-American man named Eric Black Jr. Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that Mr. Black acknowledged taking part in the shooting, and that Jazmine’s family’s vehicle may not have been the intended target.
“This is most likely a case of mistaken identity,” the Harris County sheriff, Ed Gonzalez, said at a news conference on Sunday. …
The developments in the case took officials and residents by surprise.
After all, who has ever heard of the concepts of “Hate Hoaxes” and “the hunt for the Great White Defendant?” Not New York Times readers, if we can prevent it!
There was widespread relief that Jazmine’s killer was off the street, but there was an acknowledgment that in today’s racially charged climate, nothing is what it seems. The end result, though, was just as tragic: a little girl was dead.
The initial description of the gunman as a white male came from several witnesses, including Jazmine’s teenage sister. With few other clues to go on, that description solidified as the official narrative of the shooting.
And although Sheriff Gonzalez said repeatedly that he did not want to speculate about a motive and could not say whether the shooting was a hate crime, he could not quell the assumptions that people made about the case, fueled by outrage and raw grief for young Jazmine. The notion of a white man opening fire on a black family was too potent for people to ignore, and seemed all too plausible after hate-motivated mass shootings at churches, synagogues and elsewhere in recent years.
As opposed to a few hundred thousand black-on-black murders in recent decades, very few of which got much play in the New York Times, much less black-on-black murders in far off Texas.

Sheriff Gonzalez said a red pickup truck had indeed come to a stop at a traffic signal next to Jazmine and her family when the shooting happened. But the authorities now believe that the driver — the white man in the sketch — was a bystander.
“This just went down very quickly,” Sheriff Gonzalez said. “When the gunfire erupted — we are talking about small children, they witnessed something very traumatic. And it’s very likely the last thing they did see was that red truck and the driver in that truck.”
Or snitches get stitches, which makes it sound funny, but it’s not. LA Times homicide reporter Jilly Leovy estimated perhaps a dozen witnesses of homicides were murdered each year in South-Central L.A.. That has a big impact on how trustworthy black witnesses’ allegations are. This is one reason so many high-profile cases promoted by BLM types turn out to be factual fiascos.
Lee Merritt, a lawyer who represents Jazmine’s family as well as relatives of several African-American victims of high-profile police shootings, said the arrest of Mr. Black shocked the family, who are preparing for Jazmine’s burial on Tuesday. …
“This New Year’s tragedy deserved the mass attention that it got, and it shouldn’t only be weaponized for political purposes when the suspected killer is white. The whole movement of Black Lives Matter is about the attention and care that is given to people of color in the face of violence.”

… Research has shown that the accuracy of eyewitness accounts can be undercut by stress and by conditions at the time of a crime. “Eyewitness testimony is the least reliable evidence you can have,” said Lori Brown, a criminologist at Meredith College. People generally try to understand how a traumatic event could have happened by using what they already know about the world, Ms. Brown said, and “unfortunately, we fill in the gaps.”
In other words, they stereotype based on all those cruelly handsome white male criminals on Law & Order and burglar alarm commercials.
… At the sheriff’s news conference on Sunday, Ms. Lee, the congresswoman, said that even though the killing no longer appeared to have been a hate crime, “I certainly hope that people would accept the fear that young mother experienced.”

If commenter Kyle gets the mother’s story right, then good for her, if not for the rest of us. It probably helped get her case solved. I’m not being entirely facetious, as blaming an utterly fictional white guy, if she knew it was someone else, does strike me as more admirable behavior than maintaining a “no snitches” silence. It got the investigation going. She might have even known exactly what she was doing.
But actually this might be good for the rest of us in the long run, since many who only follow the MSM will catch the complete reversal here. This sort of thing does grow on people.

I wouldn’t lump this in with hate hoaxes. The familiar pattern for them is a relatively low-risk property crime (vandalism) committed by somebody trying to provoke a reaction, typically on a college campus where there’s not that much crime and lots of young people with free time to spend agitating in said reaction. This is a very real & relatively mundane crime that got media attention due to a mistaken witness account. Normally with hate hoaxes nobody witnessed it at all, or if there was a “witness” they’re actually the hoaxer.

Whether or not the mother was involved (and at this point it is nothing but slander – no one has put forth any shred of real evidence that she was, other than the fact that she is black) the child was an innocent victim. According to what I’ve read there actually was a white guy at the scene , and he probably did peel out of there in a hurry. Big difference from Susan Smith who fabricated out of whole cloth a black carjacker to cover for her own crimes.
Interestingly I remember reading a retrospective article about Smith’s case and the sheriff involved said she was always the #1 suspect and that they never believed her story. This story is being used to validate a worldview that whites are preying on blacks in the United States. It’s not being merely reported because it initially seemed to be about an event that rarely happens (although white-on-black homicides are rare in the United States, given the size of the white population). I have a feeling you are aware of this.

Texas uses lethal injection, not the electric chair. And if Texas goes brown blue they will do away with the death penalty, of course. Texas is full of people who are constrained by it and so crime will go up.
When Texas does go blue, the business climate will get rough, and so a lot of businesses may move out. If you have to put up with ruinous taxation you might as well be someplace nice weatherwise like California or near the seat of power (the NY-DC axis) so it will be Mexicanized rapidly: oil will be the only profit source, companies like TI will head out.

One thing I admire about the Israelis is their confidence. Teaching immigrants Hebrew is considered duh, not “divisive “ or “chauvinistic”.
They have (blurry) security camera footage of a red pickup in the vicinity. There really was a truck, it just had nothing to do with the shooting. The real shooter was in a black sedan which they never even saw. However, La Porsha or whatever her name is not only saw the truck and white driver but she imagined seeing him aim and shoot at her beautiful black babies execution style. People are capable of forming memories of things that didn’t really happen. You see and hear some things – a truck pulls up beside you driven by a white guy, shots ring out , and your mind connects the dots and fills in the blank spots in your memory of the event.

It reads like he had statements from more than one witness of differing ages.
So did the teenage sister say the shooter was black and was ignored in favor of small children who claimed to see a white shooter?

Grace and Goad about God is good video. Grace must have the grace of God and the wisdom not to be goaded by Goad into a grudge match that involves overly harsh words. I like Goad and Grace because they prove that older guys can have some energy and dynamism too. I say Grace and Goad have a wonderful amount of spirit, although Goad might not think in those spiritual terms.
The Vonnegut finger to God is horribly tempting, and Goad seems to have a lot of fun doing it.

In regards to Grace’s musings about ruling class decapitation in England, it brings up the reason why I use the term ruling class rather than elite.
It is much better to use the term ruling class because that denotes a distinct and separate group of people who can be changed-out when it becomes necessary.
The term eliteimplies some group of people who are running the show because of some intrinsic quality they share, just like the European monarchs used the “divine right of kings” to lord it over everyone else.

To take over the UK or Canada, all you would have to do is plant a thousand or so bombs and pretend to be an Islamic jihadist and threaten to blow them up. With the military and citizenry thus decimated, you could proceed to take over the country.

You are reading too much into this. It’s likely that by “small children” the Sheriff meant the teenage daughter. Nobody saw a black shooter. Nobody saw a white shooter either but they saw a white driver and were primed to be willing to think of him as the shooter. From there you jump a few conclusions and in your mind’s eye you SAW the white guy shooting at you.
Let’s reverse the situation – you are walking thru a marginal neighborhood at 3AM. Suddenly you are hit on the back of the head. You crumple to the ground and black out for a second – when you come to you see a large black male in the distance sprinting off with what appears to be your backpack. You don’t see anyone else in the vicinity. Even though you haven’t actually seen the man hit you or steal your backpack, in your mind you will have no doubt that he was the one.

Was Black an “aspiring rapper” or something like many young black men? It would only add to the irony if he shot the daughter of someone who was a fan of his music.

For her birthday requests, she asks (it looks like a canned request) for donations to be sent to the Shriner’s Hospital in her name (and there is a picture of a little white girl cancer victim). She doesn’t ask for grills for her teef or spinners for her wheels, just for donations to save that poor pathetic little white girl.
Pray that this doesn’t happen. Overthrowing the government is a really big step the first time but the next time everyone knows that it is possible and worth a shot. This often goes on for some time until the last set of overthrowers become really determined not to be overthrown themselves (and they know all the tricks because they have been on the other side) and they do some not very nice things (not just to thousands but to millions and often including their former best friends) in order to insure their permanent grip on power. The end result is that what you end up with is far worse than what you started with.

It sounds like the mom really thought it was a real white guy in a pickup, who justifiably sped off when he realized what was going on.
It seems she didn’t have any connection with the actual black shooter, some dumbass who thought he was shooting at a guy he had a beef with at a club.
There are many villains here, but the actual white guy isn’t one of them, and neither, it seems, is the mom, at least as far as this event goes.
That said, I’d still say that a theoretical lower class black mom who makes up a fictional white criminal to spur a police investigation of the murder of her child is still more admirable than one who maintains a “no snitching” silence. Sure, this harms white guys, in principle. But catching actual black criminals helps white guys, in principle. — some blacks doing very stupid, violent stuff–which some small fraction of blacks are just prone to do
