This is a somewhat superficial examination of a book that apparently seeks to whitewash the hypocritical and sometimes destructive role played by Jewish intellectuals in America over that past 70 years.

Edgar Allen Poe wrote that it is impossible to write a truthful autobiography. This quasi-autobiographical book about Commentary magazine (by a sympathetic Jewish author) underscores this fact. Jews tend to idolize their tribe and its most celebrated members.

Thus, ‘Running Commentary’ comes across as a narcissistic collection of Jewish anecdotes involving Jewish intellectuals doing battle against the dark forces of… um.. non-Jews.

Why are gentiles expected to root for Jews (and against themselves?)

A. Graham’s review of ‘Running Commentary’ indulges this Jewish vanity. Why did unz.com even publish his review? It lacks critical balance.

It’s certainly comes as no surprise that Truman Capote (and many others) have complained about the nepostic Jewish ‘mafia’. It was real back then. And it’s real now.

Hardcore Jewish nepotism is a distinct type of bias. It’s divisive. And it’s harmful. But a streak of this bias not only seems to permeate the book but even Graham’s review of the book. This ‘book review’ reads like a Neoconservative press release.

Why doesn’t Graham dig deeper in his overview of a literary history that pretends to explain the ideological “transformation” of the Left Jewish radicals (communists) to Right Jewish radicals (neoconservatives)? Ultimately, it ends up sounding like a politically-correct fairy tale.

Indeed, the case can be made that these ideological ‘extremes’ (communism and neo-conservatism) are nothing more than different masks worn by the same players (and their descendents) during various rollouts of Jewish-orchestrated political crusades.

Forget not: Israel’s secret service (Mossad) proudly declares that ‘By deception thou shall do war’. And war it is. Commentary magazine has always been a part of this ongoing war effort. The Zions never rest.

Yet Graham seems not to have an inkling about the deceptive nature and destructive impact of numerous Jewish-lead political and intellectual movements that invariably receive sympathetic press by mouthpieces such as Commentary.

Graham even lets pass Balint’s claim that Commentary’s paltry readership of 20,000 gives explanation to the awesome power of organized Jewry during this era when Jews were not yet in full command of Washington.

Does the book ever examine the interconnected forces of Jewish finance, Jewish domination in Hollywood and mass media, and coordinated Jewish lobbying in Washington and beyond? If so, this review doesn’t mention it.

To fully understand his subject, Graham should take an intellectual ride through the world of Kevin MacDonald and read his seminal book, ‘The Culture of Critique’. Instead, Graham serves up the usual mush that one might find in the NY Times.

Is Graham a stooge or an active co-conspirator?

It’s a question worth considering.

Surely, ‘Running Commentary’s author, Benjamin Balint, comes across as a cheerleader for Commentary and its all-Jewish squad of activists, apologists and agitators. No surprise there.

Unfortunately, reviewer Graham never entertains the possibility that the intellectual vacillations by the geniuses at Commentary might represent 1) strategic Jewish efforts to boost Jewish cohesion and enhance Jewish influence, and 2) Jewish efforts ignite political dissent inside traditionally white, Christian countries to 3) secretly advance ‘Jewish interests’ using revolutionary ideologies as cover.

Sure, this theories of this kind might be off-kilt or only partially true. But they should not be systematically ignored. Real evidence demands real examination. Dump the taboos. Follow the truth wherever it leads.

Indeed, it cannot be denied that no small amount of political poison has been marketed by the very Jewish “Family” of alienated intellectuals who have nested at Commentary through the years.

On these prickly questions, Commentary is silent or deceptive, since the Commentary crowd routinely advocates for policies which amount to double standards which benefit Israel and/or America’s Jewish community.

Graham notes that author Benjamin Bilant claims that ‘anti-Semitism’ causes Jewish ethnocentrism. But what if it was the reverse that was actually true?

Graham also repeats Bilant’s Zionist trope about Israel’s preemptive war in 1967 being ’caused’ by Nasser’s buildup of troops inside Egypt. This is propaganda, not objective scholarship. Israeli leaders knew that it was the perfect time to launch a preemptive attack on the Arabs, since the Arabs were still weak and unprepared. Many modern Israeli scholars agree with this view. In any event, Israel struck first. This cannot be denied. Yet the dubious assertion about Israeli ‘innocence’ gets a pass in ‘Running Commentary’.

Graham fails also to connect (while Balint’s book ignores) the pivotal role played by Jewish activists, intellectuals as well as neoconservative policies in shaping America’s unpopular and unhappy trajectory towards multiculturalism.

The case can be made that Jews and Zionism have quietly conquered the Western world. But you won’t hear a robust discussion about inordinent Jewish power in Commentary magazine. They create taboos and use them accordingly.

Graham obliquely refers to the pursuit of ‘Jewish interests’ here and there, but does he not express the realistic view that Jewish deception is part of the arsenal used to advance “Jewish interests” in countries where Jews reside and the goyim constitute a majority. And this is a lot of countries.

For instance, Jews in Hollywood/USA typically glamorize black-white miscegenation in film and on TV. In Israel on the other hand, the cinematic glamorization of Arab/Jewish romance or family formation is nowhere to be found. The obvious plan is to 1) eradicate white identity in the US while 2) solidifying Jewish identity in Israel and beyond.

Indeed, Jewish miscegenation with Africans would likely undermine Jewish continuity as well as Jewish intellectual exceptionalism. This sentiment explains why ‘black Jews’ inside Israel are ignored and marginalized. Ditto on the Arabs. But in white, Christian America, a very different message is sent. Who benefits?

This book underscores that fact that many Jews cannot honestly examine Jewish political movements and institutions since so many Jews have ideological biases and personal commitments that are tribal in nature. Their unstated job is to protect the interests of ‘The Family’ by keeping the goyish mob distracted and disunited while they remain united and purposeful. Just don’t tell.

It’s too bad that A. Graham didn’t care to offer up a counter narrative to the processed hasbara that Commentary’s been downloading for decades. Is Graham a stooge or a mole?

This is a legitimate question. Just consider some of the assertions he helps pass along:

Jewish ‘assimilation’? To what? And in what sense?

Have Jews have discarded their Jewish identities and become non-hyphenated Americans?

Re King’s I have A Dream Speech Boyd says that the line “Let Freedom Right from Stone Mountain in Georgia” was plagiarized by King from another source, and gives a comment by an anonymous poster on Yahoo Answers as the source. Whatever the source, it is questionable whether this line from an oral preaching or exhortation can be simply called “plagiarism.” Preachers use similar exhortatory phrases and cadences all the time, and the fraternity of black Baptist southern preachers shared a common lexicon, understanding, style and phrasing. King was a fully fledged member in that fraternity, including being close friends with various black preachers using similar themes to his. It is doubtful whether using common phrases and common themes would have been considered “plagiarism” by either man.

When a credible scholar and theologian does look at the full context of the matter, his conclusion, for which he presents detailed evidence, is that King is not guilty of “dream” speech plagiarism- but rather that King used a general theme that was in common use for exhortatory purposes among other black preachers in his fraternity – a word play on the well known classic patriotic hymn “My country tis of thee.” (See Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Theology of Resistance- 20-14- by Rufus Burrow, Jr.)

King’s miscues in other speeches where he borrowed more liberally without attribution certainly deserve criticism, as does his thesis, but the various “gotcha” charges by his detractors are not all they seem, and if the same “fine tooth” scrutiny were applied to other speeches or writings of public personalities, plenty of missteps can be found. FOr example “plagiarism” is found among some white founding fathers, from Thomas Jefferson to Thomas Paine. Ironically, it is “liberal” scholars like Taylor Branch that brought attention to King’s sloppiness and plagiarism to a wide audience with his books, debunking claims of alleged “liberal cover-ups.”

Fifth, the King Day itself is thin gruel. Oh sure, there is the boilerplate “King’s Dream still not realized” chatter etc etc, but it has become so common it is often background noise. The general picture, and one loved by whites of all stripes since it papers over much of the ugliness of racism, and hidden structural manipulation, is of a happy, color blind America filled with nice Jews and Gentiles and happy interracial harmony, epitomized in the ritual playing of King’s “I Have A Dream” speech. It is all cliché, that fits conservative purposes. It is hardly the dire “threat to America” that Boyd makes out.

Quite the contrary, it makes America look good, just as King’s “Dream” speech in 1963 made white America look good, could be waved in the face of the Soviets and Third World, and presented as a tangible proof of racial progress by the “Free World” leader. King Day is a quick, easy, cheap way for white politicians across the board to look to be “connected” or “in touch” with blacks, when in fact they may be anything but. It is easy symbolism without giving away too much substance. Ronald Reagan, who opposed the King holiday finally bowed to pressure from both sides of the political aisle to sign it into law. The genial racialist did so with a smile. Why? It was a quick easy symbolic measure, even as he gutted anti-discrimination enforcement, and attempted to weaken the Voting Rights Act, give tax breaks to segregated schools and cut a number of “urban” programs vitally needed by poor people. The King day feel-good speeches were an excellent mask for such things.

King himself in a 1967 NBC interview lamented the simplistic language and hope boosterism of the famous March speech in terms of REAL action as opposed to flowery rhetoric. White America he noted had purchased peace at “bargain rates” – how much effort did it really cost whites to let black people eat in the same restaurant for example? But when it came to REAL issues which would cost- jobs, education and housing, white America was in no hurry. A long struggle still lay ahead.

Fifth, Boyd laments that ” King Day becomes as a major ideological blitzkrieg, a weaponized cudgel used to strike down and silence anyone.” But this is not so at all. To the contrary, King Day nods are part of a genial conservative strategy that works. The ploy IS precisely to appear at MLK Day and make soothing pronouncements. King can be sanitized and turned to conservative purposes. It’s a shrewd successful approach, that only the naïve fail to grasp.

King Day has been used by the Left, but it has also been used by the Right as well, to its profit. And the observance is hardly responsible for things like “gay” marriage. Sure speeches are made on that day by proponents, but the heavy black turnout in 2008 by black church leaders that helped defeat California’s Prop 208 gay marriage measure, also made use of King day to mobilize blacks to secure victory on the issue. Nor is King a significant factor in “gayness” given central drivers such as the movement of whites away from traditional marriage- a trend in place since the late 1950s, long BEFORE any King speech or holiday.

As regards the “shocking” assistance given to King by former communists like Stanley Levinson and Bayard Rustin, the dire picture painted by Boyd is dubious. Neither Rustin or Levinson were members of the CPUSA during King’s civil rights push, but even of they were so what? King needed cash for the movement, not to mention lots of bail money. Sympathetic people, (who were not members of the communist party mind you at the time) who could fund raise for him were welcome. Taking aid in the fight against a common enemy is news? Hell the US supplied plenty if aid to the communist Tito during the Cold War and before, and supplied arms and aid to a guy named Ho CHi Minh in Vietnam in exchange for intel on Japanese military operations.

And an element of hypocrisy is clearly present in the pious condemnations of King-Levinson-Rustin. Southern segregationists including Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms received fulsome cash, manpower and other support from segregationists of the White Citizens Councils and other such organizations during the 1950s and 1960s. These were some of the same whites encouraging violence against blacks in the civil rights movement. They also organized boycotts and “sanctions” against uppity local negroes that participated in civil rights, including firing said negroes, callin in their mortgages and loans, and all sorts of other intimidation. Yet FBI Director Hoover and segregation loving folk, including those in the present era, have very little bad to say about such things, or the cash exchanging hands thereto. Fourth, Boyd laments that old line racialist conservatives who oppose the civil rights movement, or harp about black mental inferiority, or who oppose government programs to help the poor etc have been purged from the conservative movement. This may be true, but there is also a level of naïvete to this lament. Conservatives figured out long ago that to win over the electorate they had to TONE DOWN old school racism or racialism, and present a kinder, gentler face, rooted in color blind pronouncements and “dog whistle” coding.

Nixon figured this out in the 1970s. Hence he talked up certain things like “black capitalism” but this was mostly PR. His creation of quotas via his “Philadelphia Plan” exposed union racism in how they sandbagged black progress, but Nixon knew that the maneuver would drive a fatal wedge in the Dem coalition of Jews, blacks, and northern whites. He then later campaigned against “quotas.” In like manner, Ronald Reagan presented a smiling, genial face for public consumption but behind the scenes carried out much desired racial policies desired by whites such as gutting anti-discrimination enforcement in employment and housing. This is pretty standard history.

All these measures were successful and put conservatives in power. They split the Dems and moved southern whites into the GOP column, while reassuring northern whites who were tired of snarling racialism that made them, and white America in general look bad.

Because King serves a very useful purpose for conservatives. Hence zoning regulations pushed by conservatives in an area that make the cost of housing too high for many black working families can be portrayed as “color blind” regulation, when the real purpose is to keep put blacks, and as a nice corollary, keep them out of white neighborhood schools as well.

Conservatives touting “enhanced employment requirements” in various jobs that previously did not require such “enhancements” likewise can claim to be pursuing color blindness, but the real target is to keep blacks out of certain jobs that whites might get, particularly if the blacks can do the same job more cheaply. Court cases reveal a lot of the deceptive shenanigans in use. And conservatives well know that AA has delivered most of its benefits to whites- with white women their own wives and daughters, being the primary beneficiaries of “affirmative action.” The naïve fail to grasp the game.

In education, many wonder at the support of “affirmative action” by some conservatives, but the tiny number of black AA quota admittees to elite colleges (which is where most of the action is) ,masks an even greater quota of special preference- namely the 15 to 25% of mostly white “LEGACY” and alumni kid admittees into elite colleges. The minor blacks are put out front by conservatives to take the heat, while the really significant “white quotas” proceed on unnoticed. This is especially important in the era of strong Asian competition that outpaces whites on many counts. Whites utilize the many levers of “diversity” admissions, such as essays, “community service” etc etc to get more whites past Asians with better test scores. The result is less Asian grinders and competitors on campus- more whites. And best of all it can all be masked by blaming “quotas for blacks” Sweet! Only the gullible have not caught on to the game.

Boyd’s article is accurate on several counts. It has been well known since the late 1980s for example that King plagiarized some of his writings and that he took aid from former Communists like Stanley Levinson, or that he was no paragon of perfection in his personal life. But Boyd’s post has a number of severe weaknesses as well.

He says for example that you are labeled “racist” if you point out such things, but this is contradicted by the very same “establishment biographers” he frowns at, who themselves are not shy in revealing Kings failures. In fact, it is those very same biographers such as Garrow and Branch, that brought attention to King’s failures to a vast general public, failures that would have remained muted behind dry academic tomes without wide distribution. They certainly have not been labeled “racist” by any significant percentage of the public. Matter of fact Taylor Branch won a acclaim for his work, even though on several counts it shows King in an unflattering light. Hardly to be expected if there was this vile curtain of oppression against any who “dared to speak unmentionable truths” about King.

Second, Boyd naively (or wilfully) accepts much of the dishonest propaganda of the FBI ‘s decade-long smear campaign against King. As respected scholar David Garrow shows, this smear campaign on several is marked by massive distortion and outright falsehood. Keep in mind this is the same Garrow whose biography of King often reveals his failures, such as his womanizing, and weakness in taking a firm hand in resolving disputes among his lieutenants and various factions of the Civil rights Movement. Boyd’s laundry list of “helpful information” from the FBI, the distorted circulars, anonymous letters, wiretap transcripts, rumors, planted stories, and twisted “briefings” are all part of the documented smear campaign, and require caution and appropriate skepticism when presented as “the truth” by King detractors.

And this is a great irony. If the FBI and various white politicians had been more honest and fair-minded in their dealings with King such things would have more bite. But the smear campaign and various COINTELPRO excesses has engendered widespread skepticism, hoisting conservative detractors of King on their own petard.

When one of their non slaving owning fellow colonial Puritan citizens, all too few brave enough to speak out no doubt, perhaps wisely recalling the Spartacus led slave revolt which came close to gutting the core of the Roman republic and bringing with it the downfall of the Empire, might have suggested that perhaps this chattel slavery thing was not such a good idea and should be put a stop to, these naive non slave owning primordial sjws acting on their Puritanical zeal and fanaticism, and their heavy emotional attachment to this ‘doting’, likely would have shouted them down and perhaps even attempted to physically assault the said person for daring to have said such a thing, misguidingly perceiving it as an attack on both themselves and those that they dote upon.

There is the parallel today with much of modern liberalism and the ‘doting’ upon the wage slave immigrants (‘cheap labor’ so called) by those whom exploit them, ie every thing from large corporations to the family across the street whom pay the immigrant significantly below what was or would be the local cost of labor, ie a prevailing wage, were the immigration not taking place. It is this historical refusal by some, driven by short sighted financial interest, to pay the local prevailing cost of labor (aka ‘a living wage’) typically to one of their own that drives someone to import a chattel slave. It is this same short sighted financial rational, ie plain greed, which drives the importation of immigrants today. And just as with those Puritans whom internalized the doting upon the slaves by slave owners, thus enabling slave owners and dealers, though chattel slavery was in no way in their interest, you have the same with many a modern liberal, and their internalized doting upon the wage slaves, thus enabling the elites of large corporations and their hangers on in this modern genocidal slave trade, though it too is in no way in most of their, or anyone else’s, interests.

My suspicion is that it was the persons heavily involved in the marketing and merchandising of chattel slaves (the dealers in London and in British colonial North America, Boston…ie powerful elements of the elites of the Anglo-Saxon and Jewish people) who grasped during the latter 18th century that the monetization of chattel slavery and its trade (wage slavery, ie ‘cheap labor’ so called) was a far more profitable and efficient way to go about systematically stealing an individual’s labor, and it was these chattel slave marketers who gave the impetus and likely financing to the ‘Abolition movement’ which did not in reality abolish truly ghastly slavery but rather merely smoothed the way for chattel slavery’s monetization and the introduction of the more virulent and destructive wage slavery system to the world, much in the same way that a deadly cancer metastasizes and then proceeds to spread throughout the body.
