ISIS-affiliated Amaq News Agency has announced that it has successfully split the government-held pockets of Deir Ezzor in two.

The terrorist group are now besieging the military air base that has been separated from the city.

To successfully besiege the military base, ISIS has relentlessly been sending in suicide bombers to weaken the Syrian Army defences.

Over 40 Syrian air strikes was not enough to divert the waves of ISIS attacks.

The cemetery is still under Syrian Army control and if ISIS do not quickly capture it, they remain susceptible to a counterattack and ending the siege.

Meanwhile the Syrian Army continue to repell the ISIS offensive on the southern axis in Panorama and Al-Mohandesin, whilst Syrian air strikes continue to target ISIS positions on Mt. Tharda.

The civilian areas of Al-Qossour and Al-Joura are being targeted by indiscriminate ISIS shelling resulting in the death of one woman and her daughter being injured.

It has been estimated that as many as 14,000 ISIS fighters are participating in this operation to capture Deir Ezzor from government forces.

Meanwhile, ISIS has promised a house and a wife in Deir Ezzor for every fighter who participates in the battle.

As a government enclave in the middle of ISIS territory, the Syrian Army serves as a thorn in the back and diverts many ISIS fighters from other fronts such as Mosul in Iraq.

I hope the SAA decimates them same as in Aleppo. I don’t think they can sustain the losses. This reckless gamble will hasten their inevitable demise.

Naturaly, we will never ear about the US responsability in this sad story.
They are not so courageous.

USA=ISIS and they do all what they can. Naturaly between brothers…

It was an intentional accident. Bad Intel and no accountability. The ICC will have their hands full for the next 20 years.

Pocket split and estimated 14.000 attackers does not sound promising.

And 40 airstrikes is not near enough for 14,000 ISIS.

“Meanwhile, ISIS has promised a house and a wife in Deir Ezzor for every fighter who participates in the battle.”
It looks as if quite a few of them was downgraded to collect a goat for companion into etrnity.
Anyway we ought to remember the roll of JeUSA in this, before the close air support to ISIS, SAA could have held in indefinately with they artillety still on Tardah mountain.

Could we not solve their sexual frustration by live air drops of goats with co-ordinated attacks the next morning?

My thoughts and prayers are with the brave defenders of Deir Ezzor, my sympathies for the fallen & encouragement for those who defy ISIS. Deir Ezzor must not fall.

Trouble is you can never be sure who is a traitor inside Deir ezzor civilian population, and you only need a few to give info to ISIS, otherwise solution could be to suply weapons to civilian population and make them fight for their lives and freedom, I take you could gather 20000 able men on the city, even if they can only fire AKs and snipe the rats thats will completely blunt the rat ofensive, clearly you can not try to win this war without full participation of civilians in war effort, if they not willing to fight in extreme… Read more »

Yeah!

I think Deir ez Zor will be lost. SAA must know, by now, that there can be no surrender to ISIS.

Better to die fighting!

Al masdar said in this article
http://www.almasdarnews.com/article/syria-updated-map-situation-deir-ezzour/

that there’s 4000 republican guards in deir ezzor . So if the figures are accurate, they face 14 000 reckless fanatics right now . Thats fucked up …

I hope their sacrifice won’t be useless

Henri As I understand it the 137th Brigade defend the city and the Republican Guard defend the airfield.

Obviously “40 Syrian air strikes” is not enough against an “estimated 14,000” ISIS fighters. Syria and Russia need to go into a fuller war-mode here.

What to do now?
Have the 12 Su-25 that replaced the Su-33s have 10 gunpods underwings… Fighters are real too close, only way to do is to use guns…
Onboard gun is unfortunately not like the A-10 one : it’s a 2 barrelled 30mm one (3k RPM) and only has 250 shells while A-10 has 1140-1350

Other solution? Call USAF’s A-10s : they have something in debt to Deir Ezzor Garrison…

The SAA men in Deir Ezzor cannot be abandoned. It is time to use tactical nuclear missiles if necessary to support them.

Napalm.

Great idea : a tactical nuke power is, due to size, just enough to totally erase Deir-Ezzor, thus, with the small 5kt 203mm shell from the 50’s, , if you blow it just over the offensive zone, the further points of the city would just have 50% destruction with people only burnt to 3rd degree. If they manage not to breath nuclear particle, they might survive to irradiation if you change their blood every hours…

Daeshbag, there are smaller Nukes these days to use close to the front lines and use the larger ones in the rear ISIS areas and supply lines.
If ISIS take over Dier Azzore the majority of civilians will die a slow death and the SAA will be brutally murdered anyway.

The Russians used fuel air explosives in Chechnya. It is time to take off the gloves and do it again.

I susbscribeto that one , that and barrel bombs, which in fact if you place something like 20 kg of TNT on a centered pipe and fill the remaning 180 litres with Diesel will make a nice and cheap fireball quite a few meters diameters to coock the rats that didnt die by the shock blast , you can only deliver this ones with Choppers but they re cheap to produce. We love barrel bombs!!!

No need for anything so crude. The ATAKA 9M120F is a helicopter launched guided rocket with 6km range and a Thermobaric warhead.

not a gud news for syrian army fromthe time USa attacked syria and gave isis that mountain. Syria army has to divert ISIS from dier zor by attacking east Aleppo towards raqqa and attcking Palmayra towards west so they can join and cut of ISIS in homs and target Raqqa . this will divert all of ISIS fighters from dier zor once they are diverted then SAA counter full attack in der a zor and take more towards euphrates river. like this ISIS will get confuse and struggle to fight.

It looks like Russia needs to bring back that carrier, and maybe 10,000 soldiers to finally send these demons back were they came from, for good.
