Move to Moors

Birmingham City Ladies are moving to play their home games at Solihull Moors FC from the start of the 2014 season, after three successful seasons in the FA Women’s Super League.

The decision to move came about after it was that Blues Ladies current home venue at Stratford Town, did not meet the improved criteria set out by the FA for the next four seasons.

Steve Shipway, Birmingham City Ladies Chief Executive commented: “We have had three great seasons with Stratford Town Football Club and we would like to thank all involved at STFC for their unstinting co operation and support over the last three years. We continue to have a good relationship with them, and look forward to working with them in the future.”

Solihull Moors have implemented some management changes over the last eight or nine months and the stadium has undergone an initial revamp, with major improvements to both the playing surface and spectator facilities. Our recently formed Development Squad will play their home games there this season starting on Sunday October 6th, and the first team will begin next season in mid March.

Steve continued: “One of the major issues we have found when talking to fans and trying to increase attendances has been the distance to Stratford, so our move to Solihull eradicates that problem, and should enable the club`s loyal fans to get behind the Ladies.

“This is a great time to adopt Solihull Moors as our landlords, and with the changes being made there, we will combine with them on several initiatives to heighten our profile in the area and make Solihull our home. Watch out on our website for details of these schemes in the coming months.

“In the meantime, we look foward to seeing you all at The Autotech Stadium (Solihull Moors FC) and to many successful seasons ahead.”
