Renault Sport Racing is pleased to announce Frenchman Anthoine Hubert as a Renault Sport Affiliated Driver.

The 21-year-old, born in Lyon, France, will compete the 2018 season in the GP3 Series with ART Grand Prix displaying the Renault brand on his overalls, car and helmet.

This programme reinforces Renault’s support of emerging young driver talent, providing a platform for the Renault Sport Academy (RSA) to identify future members. Drivers in the programme will be assessed by the same mentors as the RSA and be put through a fitness and simulator programme.

This year will be Anthoine’s second season in the GP3 Series after he finished fourth in the Drivers’ Championship with ART in 2017, contributing to the French outfit’s teams’ title triumph. He racked up four podiums as well as four fastest laps from the fifteen races in his rookie year.

Anthoine Hubert:
“It goes without saying that becoming a Renault Sport Affiliated Driver is a great opportunity for me. Renault is not only a leading automotive manufacturer, but also a brand with a successful history in Formula 1 and no doubt has more success to come. Carrying the Renault logo and colours makes me proud. It’s now up to me to climb the ladder they are offering me.”

Mia Sharizman, Renault Sport Academy Director:
“We’ve monitored Anthoine since his Formula Renault Eurocup days in 2015. He has developed well since then, and we had the opportunity to monitor him closely last year in GP3. He’s warranted the opportunity to prove himself this year in his second season in GP3, where his aim is to compete for the Drivers’ title. The Renault Sport Affiliated Driver programme is a new initiative by Renault Sport Racing to identify young driver talent and provide the platform for drivers to join the Renault Sport Academy in the future.”

Race biography
Anthoine’s single-seater career began in 2013, claiming the French Formula 4 Drivers’ Championship, winning 50% of the races on the way. After that he spent two seasons in Formula Renault Eurocup with Tech-1 Racing, finishing fifth in his second year.

He graduated to the highly-competitive European Formula 3 Championship in 2016, ending the year eighth with one victory to his name at Norisring, in round five.

Anthoine took on the streets of Macau later that year with 2017 commencing his maiden season in GP3.

His 2018 season begins at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, on the Grand Prix undercard (11-13 May).
