White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf

The White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf has served the White Bear community since 1977. In 2016, we provided 461,942 meals to 3,420 individuals (unduplicated) of the individuals served, 57% are children and 6% are seniors 65 years of age or older. On any given month, over 590 families visit the food shelf for food and support.

Who We Serve

We provide food and support to neighbors who live within or attend the White Bear Area School District and self-identify a need for food.

What We Do

Neighbors initially meet with a resource worker who conducts a brief assessment, provides referral connections to other community resources, and assists with additional support as needed.  During a monthly shopping visit neighbors have access to their choice of milk, eggs, meat, pasta, rice, fresh and frozen produce and a variety of other dry goods.  In addition to monthly shopping, neighbors may participate in Bonus Fridays, a weekly produce pick-up program and KID Pack, a weekend bag of food for students.

In recent years, the White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf has expanded our services and strengthened our strategies to meet the changing needs of our community. We currently have a 3.6 staff FTE and 220 active volunteers.

How you can help

We rely on generous donors like you to advance our mission of providing food and support to our neighbors in need. Consider making an online donation, signing up to volunteer or sponsor a food drive today!
