COL Raji Rasaki

1986 - 1988

The Military Governor of Ogun State between 1986 – 1988, Col. Raji Alagbe Rasaki, was born to Akande and Madam Sabitiyu Atunwa (the Iyalode of Agboro, Oyere Area of Ile-Ife) on 7th January, 1947 at Odo-Osun, Bere, Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

Col. Rasaki had his Primary Education at the Christ Apostolic Church Primary School, Ita-Olugbode, Ibadan between 1955 and 1960. He enrolled at the Nigerian Military School, Zaria for his Secondary Education between 1962 and 1966 before proceeding to the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna in September 1967 for the Cadet Course. He was commissioned an Officer in the Nigerian Army in March, 1970.

Colonel Rasaki had an extensive and impressive military career which was built on a wide range of intensive professional military training which took him to different parts of the globe including Europe, America and Asia.

A distinguished Signals Officer, Col. Rasaki has held many Military appointments since he was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1970. He was Adjutant, Lagos Garrison Signal Regiment, 1970 – 1971. Commanding Officer, 2 Signal Regiment, 1972 – 1975, Principal Staff Officer, Nigerian Army Signals, 1977, Commander, Corps Signal Brigade 1979 – 1980. Col. Rasaki was also the Commanding Officer, Direct Short Service Course (DSSC), now Short Service Combatant Course (SSCC).
