About Dr Schlessinger:

Dr. Laura Schlessinger [1947 -] is commonly called "Dr Laura." She holds a Ph.D. in physiology -- the study of functions and activities of living organisms. She is not a Psychologist as many people have assumed.

She has had four main careers: as a marriage & family counselor, an author, a radio talk show host and -- briefly -- as a television talk show host.

She alienated many in the LGBT community, particularly during the years 2000 and 2001. This conflict was a major cause of the cancellation of her TV show and her return to radio as a talk show host.

She can currently be heard on Sirius XM Satellite Radio during afternoons on Channel 109. ₂
