Abstract: This presentation aims to help graduate students improve their confidence and ability as emerging scholars. To begin, participants will be engaged in discussing what graduate students need to know to conduct research. They will then be guided through a step-by-step process that is applicable to most research approaches. Published studies will be used as examples of analysis. However, participants are encouraged to connect the research process with their own topic of interest. They will be able to walk away with ideas about a research plan pertaining to their individualized interest/topic.  The session will be approximately 120 minutes, with PowerPoint presentations and interactive activities.

主讲人简介：

于勇，纽约州立大学普莱斯堡校区终身制教授，系主任，纽约州教师资格考试委员会成员。1989年获中国沈阳师范大学英语教育学位，1992年获大连外语学院英语语言文学硕士学位，2011年，获美国宾夕法尼亚州印第安纳大学博士学位。于教授在中、美高校任教20余年，对两国的教育有深入的研究和独特的见解。目前的科研方向包括教师教育、语言教学、儿童双语发展、及多元文化儿童文学。共发表论文20余篇，专著4部，曾数次在国际学术会议上宣读论文。
