Armenia, Kalashnikov discuss joint rifle production


Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan and Kalashnikov CEO Andrey Baryshnikov met to discuss joint production of automatic rifles, the ministry said.

"Tonoyan stressed the importance of cooperation between Kalashnikov and the military-industrial complex of Armenia and expressed readiness to support programs to launch joint production of military products. Baryshnikov outlined the implementation of joint programs with Armenian counterparts in the framework of the CSTO," it said. Kalashnikov CEO indicated that the details of joint production of the latest-generation rifles had been specified according to the CSTO military-economic cooperation program.

In August 2018, at the Army-2018 defense exhibition near Kubinka, president of the Armenian Royalsys Engineering Ltd. David Galstyan and Baryshnikov signed an agreement to produce AK-12 and AK-15 assault rifles.
