Unity and Google have collaborated to create Unity for Daydream, which gives you access to Daydream features directly via the Unity editor. If you have any questions, please post them on our Daydream forums.

Download the technical preview

You can use the links below to download a custom version of the Unity Editor and Android Runtime for Daydream, as well as the offline documentation. This custom build, which is based on Unity 5.4, only supports the Android build target with VR support for Daydream. This page will be updated with subsequent builds of the Technical Preview as they become available.

Latest release

Please note that the Technical Preview can be installed along side other Unity builds.

  • Google VR Android NDK v1.10
  • Fixed an issue where Cardboard and Daydream where sharing depth buffer settings. Now they should each have their own settings.
  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission is no longer set in Daydream. It is still set if you have Cardboard as a selected device.
  • Add new setting to provide ability to override transition view in Cardboard
  • Fix missing OpenVR libraries in GVR12 build.

  • Fixed a build issue where not having VR front/back icons was causing an IO Exception on build.
  • Added Sending HOME intent when application calls Application.Quit in response to pressing X or handling back button.

Known Issues - HOME Intent is not currently set if you set Input.backButtonLeavesApp = true. Issues is known and a fix is on the way. - Calling Application.Quit causes a 3 second delay from when the activity goes away and when the phone home screen is display. In that 3 seconds the user is dropped into Daydream Home. The issue is understood and we are currently researching a fix.
