Qualification history
Minnows Montserrat have never forged beyond the first round of qualification in their three campaigns, starting with a 7-1 defeat by Surinam ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. Their second attempt was equally chastening: an 8-3 aggregate loss to Belize at the earliest stage of the race to reach Brazil 2014.

Though they fell at the first hurdle again on the road to Russia 2018, it was much more of a close-run thing. After being beaten 2-1 in Curacao, they produced another spirited display in the return leg on home soil, which finished 2-2.
