Prof. Dr. Xi Zhang was appointed President of Jilin University and took the position on 13th December, 2018.

Prof. Dr. Xi Zhang, born in December 1965, got his Bachelor Degree in Analytical Chemistry and Master Degree in Polymer Chemistry and Physics from Jilin University in 1986 and 1989, respectively. In 1992, he got his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and Physics from Jilin University. He studied at University of Mainz, Germany from 1991 to 1992 as a joint-training Ph.D. student. Prof. Zhang started his professional experience at College of Chemistry, Jilin University in 1992 and was appointed Director of State Key Lab for Supramolecular Structure and Materials, Jilin University in 1997. In 2004, he started to work at Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University and used to work as Chair of Department of Chemistry, Dean of School of Science and Chair of Academic Committee, Tsinghua University. Prof. Zhang was selected Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007. He took the position of Vice President of National Natural Science Foundation of China in February 2018.
