Metabolomic studies
Metabolomics is the scientific study of chemical processes involving metabolites. Specifically, metabolomics is the "systematic study of the unique chemical fingerprints that specific cellular processes leave behind", the study of their small-molecule metabolite profiles. Metabolomics is the simultaneous ('multiparallel') measurement of the levels of a large number of cellular metabolites. The emerging field of metabolomics had profound importance in recent years as its wide applications in the field of drug discovery and drug development. In the agricultural/chemical industry, metabolomics may be used to develop herbicides and pesticides.
