Yana Yerlashova

Born in Siberia, Yana has a degree in English Studies, taught English at a university and written a dissertation in Cultural Studies with her thesis on “Intercultural subtext in Ernest Hemingway’s late prose”. She soon realised that her future did not lie in research and so she turned to television, at first covering international news, then a brief spell as a correspondent before, without a moment’s hesitation, moving to RT’s Documentary Department where she knew she had at last found the right path for her. Yana has made documentary films as author and director since 2011 and likes to film stories about people and animals, and to make documentaries investigating current topics. She values sincerity, personal involvement and a sense of humour in others and her ambitious goal is to make films that encourage people to think, help others and make a difference.
