About Avi

Avi Bar-Zeev has been a pioneer, architect and advisor in AR/VR/MR for over 25 years, behind the scenes in the worlds largest tech companies and at large. Most notably, he helped found and invent HoloLens at Microsoft, assembling the very first AR prototypes, demos and UX concepts, sufficient to convince his leadership. He also built the first prototypes for what is today called the “AR cloud.”

At Amazon, he helped launch PrimeAir, as well as designing novel UX for undisclosed new wearables. He most recently helped Apple advance its own undisclosed projects in mission-critical ways.

In 1999, he co-founded the company behind Google Earth and subsequently helped define Second Life’s core technology. Back in the mid-90s, he worked on ground-breaking VR experiences for Disney, including “Aladdin’s Magic Carpet” VR Ride, the “Virtual Jungle Cruise” and “Cyberspace Mountain,” serving as technical lead for many.

The main skill he brings to any consulting opportunity is a visionary voice with a deep understanding of human needs, articulating the future and inspiring others on how to most practically get there. He knows when to guess and when to build living experiments to prove or disprove key hypotheses. The most common questions he tackles are around “how will real people use AR and VR in their daily lives?” and “what’s it really good for?” Doing this, he has inspired companies to spend billions of dollars, productively, as well as saving them from countless billions in mistakes.
